[00:00:04] Speaker A: Y. Yo, what up, bro? Y' all stand for O.T. yeah. Nah, get that bread, bro. Y' all gotta stay for O.T. listen up, workers. Overtime is mandatory this weekend. No excuses. Let me work. [00:00:26] Speaker B: Please let me work. Let me work. Please let me. [00:00:37] Speaker A: I'm a member of Osaka. Like that Omega Sci Fi fraternity, Greta [00:00:42] Speaker C: the Tittle Tattle prattled on about the little metal bottle. She spat a bit of spittle on the modern brittle cattle in a bitter battle. [00:00:48] Speaker A: Hey, hey. [00:00:49] Speaker C: Stop questioning my methods, okay? I was chosen for this task for [00:00:52] Speaker A: a very good reason. No, she chose herself. Peace. Let me get the number four, Cajun style, please. Okay, and what side items would you like for the sides? I'll take the hush puppies and the corn. Corn? Who that joker say go [00:01:16] Speaker B: the corn. [00:01:17] Speaker A: He want the corn. [00:01:18] Speaker B: He want the corn. [00:01:19] Speaker A: He want the fudge stove. The corn. You're real [00:01:26] Speaker B: people in North Carolina, especially in the low country, why do y' all always refer to people and things as boys? Like, who was the first Bo? And then why was y' all substitutin everybody else name for Bo? I don't get it. They be like, hey there, Bo. Well, go ahead. Go ahead on now. [00:01:43] Speaker A: Bo. [00:01:43] Speaker B: I wouldn't mess with that over there, there, Bo. Like, who is Bo? And then furthermore, how do you spell Bo? Is it B, O? Is it B, O, E? Like, what's going on here? Why are we. [00:02:39] Speaker A: I'm taking your main G with me, man. I'm on another level, man. I'm repping. Charleston, South Carolina. Pop them collars. What's her name? Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on. What's up? What's up? What's up? All right, all right. Shout out, shout out, shout out to my. Very own. [00:04:10] Speaker C: Like that, like that. [00:04:11] Speaker A: What's good? Y' all was good. That was a little longer intro than I planned for, but I'm your main man, DJ High Star, here for another episode of mandatory O time overtime, or mandatory ot. However, you chalk it up here. Mandatory overtime. The aim is for us to recalibrate our definition of manhood. It's with one conversation at a time with our community. The community, of course, consists of you all. So I appreciate you guys. Of course, it's just simply an audio journal of an 80s baby. A social experiment. Inconsistency. Could have been anywhere in the world. You're here listening to me. And for that, I appreciate you once again. All right, appreciate you. Pat yourself on the back. Don't confuse this with the man knows fair. It's just a place where the man Is fair. So pull up a chair like comment, subscribe, Hype, Share and make some noise, y'. All. Cause your main man is here. All right. Reporting live from Charlotte, America. What's up, Charlotte 704980. Of course, I got my Russian sound engineer and a check, 1, 2. A check 1, 2. Let's go to work. What's good, y'? All? What's good, everybody? So we listen, man. Glad that everybody's joining us. Who is joining us? Thank you. Any of the newcomers, anybody that have forgotten about in the past and finally put. Put on to the show. But, yeah, I hope everybody's doing good, y'. All. Hope everybody's doing well. Got a lot going on out there, so want to cover some things and discuss some things. Of course, if you heard last week's episode, though, you know, with the revisions and all of that for this week, I did not want to miss my brother Be Easy's question with regards to dialects and all that stuff. So I figured, I mean, I'll jump right to it. And then, I mean, I guess we could consider it a part of building wisdom, but we'll definitely talk about that. So I just wanted to acknowledge those videos played at the beginning, of course. The first one, my man talking about the Geechee accent slipping out. Pause. And then. And then you got the second one talking about BO and the emergence of both chat. That was for the whole thing earlier. But when he mentioned at the end, he's saying the spelling of boat. I've also known BO to be spelled B, E, A, U. And I mean, I'm just seeing it. I don't know names and stuff like that, but I have seen it spelled that way as well. But that's definitely one right? Boy in South Carolina, and y' all could write in or call in and tell me the different areas. But first of all, we got Geechee and Gullah. Like, that's his own world down in the low country. So primarily in Charleston. To me, I think Charleston. I think of Charleston as the hub of Geechee and Gola culture. I know Buford probably wants to stake some claim. Certain parts of Florida might have something to say. Georgia there in Savannah, some of them definitely speak Geechee and all of that, but I typically think of Charleston and how heavy IG culture is. You got so many different shades or tones of the Geechee accent. So you got. Depending on where you from down there, depends on how you know your Geechee accent comes across. In other words, so you got like a deep baritone Geechee, you know, hey, What y' all boy about to do? What y' all boy got going on, man, stop playing with me before he books you off or something, man. You know, you got that and you got the high pitch. I'm talking about men, by the way, right now. But you got the high pitched geechy accent. You know, he's like, man, I'm boy, man, I'm boy playing, man. And it's a real, you know, a high pitched cacophony. Cacophony is the word, anywho. Yeah, so geechee, I was, you know, I grew up around that, of course, coming down south during the summertimes and then eventually when I moved down to Charleston. That's not the best representation. What I just showed is not the best representation of kichi accents, right, what I displayed. But I again, there's an array of them. Now when you get to other areas in South Carolina, you got to me three words, three B words that will. Will determine kind of where you at in South Carolina. So you got Bo, right? Then you've got Bubba, and then you got Buddy, you know, now, so. And a lot of the PD area in Florence and all of that. And of course Colombia all the way through, you know, Orangeburg and everything. You'll hear, hey, Bo. What up, Bo? What up, Bo? What going on, Bo? And then on the more Georgia side of South Carolina, I've like, like Augusta Wade. What is that? Hampton county and just certain parts and the Midlands as well, I've heard. All right now, Buddy. All right, Buddy. Buddy got one more time now, you know. And then I've also heard. What's going on, Bubba? Hey, Bubba. What y' all boy got going on, Bubba? So I've heard that down in Charleston all the way through as well. So unique question that Be Easy asked is. I don't know if I even introduced this, but I'm answering part of Be Easy's email from last week where he asked about the different accents in different regions of the state. So those are the ones that stand out to me and the, the identifiers, as far as the word itself, I mean, Bubba, Buddy and Bo. What's up, Boat? What's happening, Boat? Hey, Bo. What y' all boys got going on, Bo, you know, so shout out to South Carolina. Any accents? Yeah, my family's from Edisto island, so, you know, there's a connection there somewhat. So I did want to share that with y' all though. Let's see here. I wanted to go ahead and let's get go through this wisdom a little bit and see what we got going on with that. [00:10:55] Speaker B: What's today's mathematics? [00:10:56] Speaker C: You'll notice disrespect. [00:10:57] Speaker A: But we ain't in all of that, son. [00:10:58] Speaker D: Build, destroy the builders. To elevate the mentalities of self and those around self to add positive energy to every nation. To build, you must first start from the root, which is the knowledge foundation. And I don't want to. The highest peak. To destroy is to eliminate and destroy any and all negativity that enters my cipher of supreme harmony. [00:11:18] Speaker A: Peace, God. [00:11:19] Speaker B: Peace, God through the knowledge. [00:11:22] Speaker A: Nick, I know you gonna dig this. All right, so gonna go ahead and start this week with a couple words from cousin Jerome. See here he shared with the family group chat. One thing from George Bernard Shaw. This reads, a life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable but more useful than a life spent doing nothing. Then the second one says one can choose to go back towards safety or forward toward growth. Growth must be chosen again and again. Fear must be overcame. Overcome again and again. Abraham Maslow. And then the last one is from Aristotle. Quality is not an act, it is a habit. All right, so salute. Salute to that. It's taking a look here. Or take the time to plug our engagement. Of course. Feel free at any given time. Yeah. Submit any wisdom that y' all may have or y' all want to discuss and we'll talk about it. Also, feel free to email the show mandatory ot704gmail.com mandatory ot704gmail.com or give us a call 7047-8170-1170-4781-7011 and we'll play your voice note on air and respond to it and all of that good stuff. Make sure you follow our IG as well. The IG page is going to be at mandatory ot. So moving forward with today's episode, I wanted to discuss a couple things. Let's go ahead and get to it. Round of applause in order for the Charlotte Hornets, maybe the Miami Heat last night. Now, do have a couple things that I want to say about that, right? So we're gonna call out stuff and we big on accountability over here. So, you know, how should I put this, man? Like lamelo. That was what you did to Bam, bro. Seriously. All right, I saw the play. There's no excusing it. I really feel a type of way about rooting for Charlotte moving forward at any capacity. But then again, I was at the Knicks game a couple weeks ago when the Knicks was playing Charlotte in wanted it to be Known then there's a younger, emotional team right here. So you go, this could go one of two ways. I'm not hedging anything, but this is a young, emotional team. So all of the energy that they're exerting to get into the playoffs, playing in this play in, we're gonna see kind of where that lands them. If that lands them a playoff spot still, they still got a game to play on Friday, so we'll see. We'll see what happens. But it was a dirty play, I think, by Lamelo. Granted, Eric Spoelstra and the Heat organization class acts. They know one play doesn't determine the whole game, but great game nonetheless. It overshadows that game for me. Lamelo, what happened was it was a. Whatever, a mix up. Lamelo's falling to the ground and Bam. Adebayo is on one leg hopping. And Lamelo swipes that leg that he's hopping on, y'. All. And Bam goes down to seemingly look like he bruised his tailbone or something worse. Like he could barely walk. So I didn't like. I didn't like that play at all. I didn't like that play at all. That was nasty. I know how. How bad Charlotte wants to win and how much people trying to make Charlotte a new, hot, sexy team, but they gotta have to. They got to go through their lumps. They had to get their L's and take their L's. So, you know, I did write this down. I put this down. Consider this a random note or not, but new Splash bros. And then I put F out of here. Teague. So Jeff Teague, he won his titles. I didn't even look at the video because of the title was so egregious. But the caption says, like, Jeff calls Lamello and Khan can nipple the New Splash brothers. Listen, listen, y'. All, I understand that. I understand that Khan is a rookie of the year candidate, top rookie of the year candidate. Him and Cooper flag and Lamelo is must see tv. But you gotta chill. You gotta relax, all right? There's nobody. What Steph and Clay did. Nah, it's not. They're not close. They're not. They're not consistent enough. Lamelo and Con can nibble. And that's somebody that's seeing these Hornets games. All of the games, like all the nation is seeing is the highlights of how the Hornets have played this year. I see the full game. Somebody like Lamello went 2 for 16 last night from 3 con caniple didn't hit any threes last night. So they gotta, again, they gotta get through these emotional wins. And then even doing that, they gotta avoid the old Pat Beverly thing or celebrating too early, celebrating the play in like you won a championship and then can't get past your first round. So just, just be cautious. All right? That brings me to my next thing, though. While Jeff Teague is the damn Hornets and all of that, they busy hating on the Knicks. So I will say this, y', all, you laugh right now or whatever, but we're going to record this and make sure that it's recorded when it comes to my Knicks. All right? We're in good shape. All of the nicks hate is fuel and energy, but we're in good shape health wise. We're in very good shape. Atlantic Division, our own division that we, that we played, we had the, the best record in the division. All right? We, although we finished, what, third in the conference, the Eastern Conference, we had the best record against our division. And also the team that finished second, Boston Celtics, our nemesis, we won the season series with them and won three out of four games. So a lot of that stuff gets swept under the rug and people look at the Knicks as inconsistent or real, real vulnerable and beatable stuff. And I'm tell y' all like this. If Cat hits that switch and Carl Anthony Towns gets to going, y' all need to have him in the conversation for Finals mvp. I'm gonna just go ahead and say it like that. Yeah. All right. It'll pay out good money. It's not like it won't pay out good money. So, you know, because nobody's. Nobody's thinking about that. So if you're able to. I would put Cat down for Finals mvp. All right. Yeah. I'm just trying to get y' all paid. I'm just trying to get people paid, that's all. Because the. The popular picks and all of that, it's not gonna be paying out no money. It's not gonna be paying out no money at all. But enough basketball talk that that's what it's looking like. Best of luck to the Knicks. We're playing the Hawks or whatnot in the first round. So we'll see once those games start, I think they start on Saturday for us, we'll see what happens. But it's playoff time, y'. All. Playoff time. Ch. Ch. And just like that. So we are at Saturday, y', all. Saturday evening. Fast forward. The Hornets have lost to the Magic, so they've got knocked out again, not playing winning basketball. I went to the get. I went to the job last night in my Master P Hornets jersey. All right. Salute and shout out to champions fate. But had to troll a little bit. Didn't want to troll too much because my Knicks was playing tonight. But guess what? The Knicks came back with the W defended home court. Great performance from Cat. Let's go into my MVP campaign. But Jalen Brunson, OG Mitchell Robinson, Deuce McBride, the usual suspect showed up. All right, Mikhail Bridges. Now we still getting hate out there. Josh Hart with 14 rebounds tonight. Brunson with 28 points, seven dimes. And the Hawks are a great team. They're a great team. We are experienced, so I'm expecting us to focus and. And win the games we need to win. Does that mean that we're going to sweep them? Nah. No. But the Knicks are to be respected, all right? Yeah, we are to be respected. I think whenever it comes to our team as a whole. Got a clutch point guard, got skilled big men and that play defense. And Carl Anthony, Anthony Towns and Mitchell Robinson can rebound the ball. And we got skilled wing defenders and a deep bench. So I'm just stating the facts. All those that would like to hate continue on, please, please continue on. It's gonna get exhausting, though. I'm calling it out. The hating on the Knicks is gonna get exhausting. Is gonna have to bow down and show respect sooner or later. So I'm calling it now. But remember all of this stuff that y' all have heard so far on the episode that was from Wednesday, Tuesday at his week. So all of them things about Lamelo and the Hornets and how they play, that was prior to their game against the Magic on Thursday. And then all of the stuff that I was saying about the Knicks, that was prior to their game tonight, Saturday against. Against Atlanta. Again, this is the playoffs, so it's not meant or designed to be easy. However, we are experienced and I believe in my squad at the end of the day, you heard. So go New York. Go New York, go. We're not gonna play that celebration music until take care of business. And all Knicks fans know what taking care of business is because we already have seen the Eastern Conference finals and all of that stuff. But nevertheless. So moving right along, I wanted to, I guess go ahead and. And discuss this real quickly, but Gucci, he dropped a song. I feel like we're living in a simulation, y'. All. Gucci drops a song that he's. Whatever he's. People are saying he's making a statement or whatever on the song. And people's outrage is there's more outrage for Gucci, it seems like, than there is for, you know, continued outrage for Push Icedi and. And what they did to Gucci. But I understand how people. No, I don't understand. I don't understand. I don't understand what. Where we in right now, where people have some kind of expectation of Gucci, quote, unquote, crashing out or handling this in the streets or any differently. So I just. I get a headache if I think too long and hard about this stuff. Pause. But I also wanted to offer this perspective. Everyone has already confirmed pretty much that Gucci has mental health problems, and his wife has confirmed that and stuff. And this being a way for him to vent, considering all his mental health issues and stuff. I'm not mad at that. I'm not mad. Like, he's already considered a little off of his rocker. So if he was to record a song saying everything that happened or occurred with him, then it seems right on par. Like, it. It tracks. You know what I mean? But, hey, in. In that case was very few winners. Again, I think the talent that. The things that you reward you. You know, I mean, you reaping almost what you sow like. So, yeah. Shout out to Gucci. Shout out my Gucci. Do we need that? Do we need that sound effect by the next. Proudly, Proudly. Let me see here. There's also, like, a continuing hate for J. Cole online right now that I'm not really feeling, you know, Okay, y', all, he dropped the fall off. Guess what? It was called the fall off. So maybe he wanted to fall off and fall back from y', all, but it's called the fall off, so what more would you want? The press run is poor from other people's standards with him being honest about things. Ah, you know, it is what it is. I don't know. Also, last thing it says. These are all random thoughts, by the way. But my real problem with verses is people's hypothetical matchups with the songs. Like, I don't care to hear people matching up songs without seeing any of this stuff performed. It. It makes no sense. I mean, it's. It's like baseless. It's like us putting together teams, fantasy basketball or football teams together go up against each other. Let me see here. So, yeah, y' all can kind of hear it in my tone, but I'm. I'm just not interested in. In that conversation, my fo. Y', all. I'm not interested in that conversation at all with defending or condemning Gucci man for making a song, talking about his experience getting robbed by his own artist or the attempt robbery by his own artist. So I don't know. Miss me with all of that. Miss me with that. Let's wanted to discuss some things. I think I may have discussed it before on the show, but I just, you know, epiphany of what I call the yellow Centra theory. Whenever it comes to manifestation, the L sent your theory is just simply like, you trip up and you. I think I said this earlier on this show on the episode, but I gotta listen back and edit it. But forgive me if I'm saying this twice, but essentially when you get a certain car, let's say you get a yellow sentry out of nowhere, your great grandmother, your grandmother passes it down to you. That's the only car that you could get at the time because it's whatever is. It's what's available in your mind. You just wanted a car car, and now you visualize in your car the yellow Sentra. But out on the road, you start to see sentries now. And, you know, they're not just Centrus, they're not gray or anything like that, but they're yellow centers. It might be mustard yellow, might be a yellow taxi yellow, but they end up being yellow centuries, essentially. That's how manifestation. I'm starting to realize that's how kind of manifestation is going for me. The more and more, of course, that I'm putting things out there, speaking things out into existence while maintaining. While maintaining protection of my ip, those resources, the. The things that I'm looking to do, they're all aligning together to help me bring success to my, you know, to my efforts. So I just wanted to bring that up to y'. All. Let me see here. Really. I'm looking over some random notes, but I know I talked about the continue hate for J. Cole online as well. All of that stuff is really, I don't know, not a headache to me. But I don't want to put too much energy into that. I just wanted to point out how trivial, foolish, stupid it looks or that it is. Also, D1 and Big bank, they had a great conversation on perspectives on Big bank show. Perspectives show some brotherly love to them brothers it. And again, it aligns with everything we've been talking about. Again, I got that conversation from Glasses Malone as far as that question. It was birthed from a conversation Glasses was having on Culture United with Justin Hunt and a couple of other people and the rest of the panel when he mention that The Russell and D1, you know, appear to be Christian before they're black. So that conversation continued in a way with D1 and Big Bank. Great conversation, Great video. Definitely check it out if you get a chance. I think I may pull some clips and go over that a little bit. And go over that a little bit next week. Foreign so I do want to get into some high star bars for the week real quick. This week's high star bars and I do have a classical segment that I do want to do. But the first portion of the high star bars is going to go to Andre 3000 gonna play his verse from royal flush. It's a track by big boy. I was gonna play big boy's verse because his verse is cold too. However, Big boy's aligned with a couple things. I want to really show no support to him right now. But yeah, this is called royal flush. It's featuring raekwon, one of the frequent collaborators. Collaborators with outkast. But I just wanted y' all to hear this. Give me one second while I push. I'll pull this up for us. Okay, Here we go. [00:29:50] Speaker C: They say change is dangerous as a king standing on the terrace while his partner pointing up at the rightful man Coward shooter never know when your life will end then live like there ain't no mystery and if one come then this the motto now put message in bato? You go to the nearest beach and open your car door and walk to the place where the sea meets the land? Yeah, it's easier to run the street than walk in the sand hey, I'm talking, young man as if chalking my hand I will take y' all the last of school it's cool when the kids call me sunny? The hood calls me stacks the bees call me honey? Hollywood calls me back crack and I have a lot in common? Both come up in the 80s and we keep that base bumping that's a comparison embarrassing unfortunate that if you come up fortunate the streets are lame I thought the name of the game was to have a better life I guess it ain't what a shame I don't sling never slum But I'm one with the slum that has a name well fitting, slimy cheese hitting no wonder why they called it the trap so watch your tail and I'm not kidding the rats and mice would give advice they say you can paint and draw get out of here Go show them that we're walking that's when I broke into my big group impression and I tried to enlighten but that night I learned the lesson that the morals that you Think you got the window when all the other kids are fresh and they got new Nintendo and your child is down on her knees praying hard up to God for a whopper with cheese. Do you beat the street hard with a flap or do you a go to school for heating and [00:31:16] Speaker A: making crooked [00:31:17] Speaker C: killing on the millions. [00:31:20] Speaker A: Brilliant. Left foot back in all about and he said you got one foot in, one foot out N cuz we can't let that oh my. Brilliant. You got one foot in, one foot out. You put your left foot back in and you shake it all about. You do the hokey pokey till you turn your life around. That's what it's all about. 3,000 out. I'll always come back to you. Break. So salute. Salute to the brother Andre. 3000 and track royal flush. Speaking of royal flush, I'll be out there in Fort Mill, South Carolina this week. Coming up, some poker shout out to the guys and I'm poker crew. You know what I mean? So I do want to go through real quick, give some picks. We're not sponsored by anybody but I will give some picks on some series. Wrap this Cleveland series. I feel like Cleveland will win that. I don't want to give any. You know, Cleveland's doing a sweet poro and this and that. The Nuggets Timberwolf series where the Nuggets won earlier tonight. I like that's going to be back and forth but I like the Nuggets in there. Of course I like us in the Hawk series. The Lakers are currently up on the Rockets. KD sitting but I do still like the Rockets in that series. Shout out to the Yankees winning. All right. And then tomorrow Slater games that we got Boston in the Sixers. It's gonna be tougher and closer than people think. But I see Boston winning that Suns in the Thunder. I like the Thunder. And then the Magic and the Pistons like the Pistons Trailblazers and the Spurs. I like the spurs in that game. So y' all make sure y' all hit us up to email the show or call us on mandatoryot704gmail.com Let me know your picks or give us a call. 704-781-7011. You could also give us your picks that way. I know I mentioned it earlier that we would do a classical high star bars but I'm gonna hold off on that for next week's episode. I know this week is kind of all over the place and it's a little late that I'm getting it to y', all, but Just be expecting on time or punctual episode this week coming up and maybe some like double over time or something like that so I can make up for for that timing. Okay. But I appreciate y' all patience with me. Of course. And, and absolutely, of course, for y' all tuning in. I want to go through real quick and show some love. All right, so shout out to my tribe, all the fellas. Like I mentioned, the poker crew, a fishing crew. I don't know if I'll see y' all tomorrow, but. Q Fat Boy Los Angeles. What up, Sock?
