Well, and some of them found all the boys and girls in the same box car. Some was different cars. And so I guess it's some of the people down there, they just said, well, they see them boys now with them white women. That was the trouble about it then they went out and made some light. Some loud cries. Cry about the boys being there with the women. You see, that is all it was to it. They just saw the women. They didn't see nothing else wrong. But anyhow, they put the boys in jail in that six long years. Well, the state, all the whole United States got together. They got out four of them to come to New York. And the lawyer what got him out, I know him pretty good. I met him and he showed me the Scottsboro Boys. And I shake hands with him. So I made this little song about down there. You heard the artist, lead belly, 1930s artist out there. Well, I think he'd. Matter of fact, I think he might have passed like 48, 49. But yeah, 1930s artist. And he had a song back then titled the Scottsboro Boys. Now, the Scottsboro Boys story, it reminded me of that scene in Sinners where Delroy Lindo was riding in the car and they're riding in the country field past the, you know, indentured servants, slaves, prisoners, whatever you call them at that time. But they're riding past the field and Delroy was recounting how these gentlemen got locked up and stuff. It was very parallel to this. Let me read this for y' all real quick though. The Scottsboro Boys were non African American male teenagers accused of raping a young white woman and a 17 year old white girl in 1931. The landmark set a set of legal cases from this incident dealt with racism and the right to a fair trial. The case, the cases included a lynch mob before the suspects had been indicted. All white juries, rush trials and disruptive mobs. It's commonly cited as an example of legal. Of a legal injustice in the United States legal system. Essentially on March 25, 1931, two dozen people or so congregating on a freight train traveling between Chattanooga and Memphis, Tennessee. It was like an equal mix of blacks and whites in the group. The group of whites gathered rocks and attempted to force all the black passengers from the train. But they were unsuccessful. The humiliated white teenagers jumped or were forced off the train and reported to a nearby train master that they had been attacked by a group of black teenage boys. Shortly thereafter, the police stopped and searched the train, found the boys again. Two young white women were also taken into jail. So you can see how political that got back then. But nevertheless, the song was made by the brother, Lead Belly. [00:12:46] Speaker E: I don't know. [00:12:46] Speaker B: I'm trying to find Lead Belly's full name for y' all real quick. Now. The song was made by Lead Belly. And if you hear at the end of this song, his advice, okay, he died in 1949. Lead Belly Huddy. William Ledbetter, known as Lead Belly. So he, at the end of that song, you know, coined the phrase, or his first kind of recorded of hearing the phrase used, warning people to stay woke. And. And then, of course, that was followed by your man, Childish Gambino with Red bone and all of that. So salute again. No to Lead Belly. Just another example of how music, how powerful music music is, how music could be used as a tool. Right. And how we've been using that music as our superpower for this long. I mean, salute to the ancestor. But still to this day, you think about how agitated people get whenever they hear that term and stuff. Regardless if it's co opted or not or commodified or not, it still ruffles feathers. And I believe that that's the energy of our ancestors in that. In that phrase. Yeah, I know. Cause real black parents separated the ghetto music from the music that the children was able to listen to. Real black parents back in the day kept a child in a child's place. The parents and the children were not partying together. When the children got in the car, the mothers changed the music. These days, black women do not care about their children. And whenever there's nothing to do, everyone keeps their mouth shut and enjoys it. Jobs don't need to be stressful. It's like we're going to get lost in the source and young adults and children are going to think that we had no technology at all. Coming up. But automatic seat belts was a thing. It made you feel like Knight Rider or something. You know, am I the only one? Y' all let me know. But automatic seat belts, and now it did choke you and get aggravating after a while. But it was a neat little feature. If your parents had automatic seat belts in there, you felt like he was kind of riding in a foreign or something back in the day. That, that's just my opinion. I'd love to hear y' all opinion about the automatic seat belts. All right, let's see here. This is more of a get it off your chest. So that's the new trend that's out. I did want to say this as far as to get it off your chest. This is more so in the lane of advice. And I'm not ranting with this, but people that talk similar to me, where we pause, give parenthetical pauses, where we're able to let words breathe and space out our sentences and command attention by doing so. Right. Of course. A callback from last week. I employ you all to be efficient with your words and your phrases. However, whenever you intermingle and intertwine curse words with that pausing, you have to be very, very careful. So what do I mean by that? Is the. And it sound like you saying that you was, you know, and I hope that I'm making sense. But I've noticed it a lot recently where people put. Like, there was a. He'll hide behind his security and things like that and antagonize folks. However, whether it was a skit or not, Lil tj, he's all the way into this world right now. So you're part of this, bro. It's. It's all blended reality and the appearance of reality is all blended in together. So that little TJ altercation happened. And then lastly, the main event on the card, Sauce Walker and Ray J. All right. Yeah, exactly. Sauce walking Ray J. They're getting into their back and forth and they have a little static. I'm not sure if it is, again, manufactured or, or, you know, authentic. Something genuine. But it's just all. Anyways, that is three altercations that you probably would have been better off not knowing about. Anywho, moving forward, next thing in basketball. I'm gonna jump back to basketball real quick. Wanted to bring this question up to the audience. I brought it up to Trey earlier this week. Week. But I want to know whose side y' all are on in the Jalen Brown, Stephen A. Smith saga. Salute to Jalen Brown. Salute to Stephen A. Smith. Brotherly love to Jason Tatum. So in this Jalen Brown, Jason Tatum situation, Sham Sharania was on. Stephen A. Smith show essentially said that these guys didn't have a relationship off the court. Stephen A. Has been hinting at things like that and that Jalen Brown is not well liked in the locker room in Boston since Jalen Brown was in Boston. And Jalen Brown's just asking for sources. So I wanted to bring this to the community and ask whose side are you guys on in that, in that scenario, are you on the side of. I'm gonna keep my sources close to the chest and, you know, continue to speak, you know, about this. You know, in other words, release coveted information and just hide it behind My sources tell me or my insiders tell me or are you on the side of Jalen Brown where it's like, stand on what you say, back up your sources. Literally liquor fueled crash out on each other and they was supposedly broken up and I didn't bring them up last week. And then in the meantime they got back together. They've started this 45 day workout thing where they lock themselves into a warehouse. They're streaming from the warehouse and working out every day. And I just wanted to salute them brothers. It's very unorthodox how they're doing it. Very toxic as well. It looks like it's punishing. A B ab liver is just crying out for help at this point in his pancreas and stuff. But it is just punishing the body to see what they've done thus far. Again, this. I go all the way back to my Truman show. The Truman show episode. Truman show effect episode, whatever we called that. But yeah, it's the Truman show effect. Yo. Got to be in front of the camera, have to have something engaging and things. He recently moved up to Ohio and he just thought about. Thought about your boy and reached out to me to check on me and see how I was doing. Told him that it made my day, man. I really appreciated him reaching out, but the conversation that we had was surrounding he is. You know, he has his family up there in Ohio with him and his children that he have. Two of them, I believe, are autistic. Forgive me if I'm getting the numbers wrong, but two of them, I believe are autistic. He found out and was diagnosed professionally and found out that he's autistic. So I wanted to. We had an awesome conversation just about kind of things that he's triumphed throughout life where people have kind of misdiagnosed him and thought different things of him. And, you know, once he figured out his diagnosis, it was kind of an epiphany to him of why certain things, you know, didn't click, but also certain things did in his life and certain things like that. So I. I really am looking forward to getting on a call with him or having a conversation with my dog. But I appreciate my brother for reaching out my brother Jakari and.
