Episode Transcript
[00:00:03] Speaker A: Y.
[00:00:06] Speaker B: Yo, what up, bro? Y' all stand for O.T.
yeah. Nah, get that bread, bro. Y' all gotta stay for O.T.
listen up, workers. Overtime is mandatory this weekend. No excuses.
[00:00:23] Speaker C: Let me work.
Please let me work. Let me work.
Please let me.
[00:00:38] Speaker B: Omega Sci Fi fraternity Greta the tittle tattle prattled on about the little metal bottle she spat a bit of spittle on the modern brittle cattle in a bitter battle. Hey, hey. Stop questioning my methods, okay? I was chosen for this task for a very good reason. No, chose yourself.
[00:00:56] Speaker C: Come after me. I'm a man. I'm 40.
It's sporty time.
[00:01:07] Speaker D: If you follow professional sports, you know there's a lot more white coaches than black. Even though there's a lot more black professional athletes, people always said it's racism, it's prejudice, it's finally balancing out. But it's not racism or prejudice. The reason for so many more white coaches for so long is because growing up as a white athlete, we spend a lot more time on the sidelines than black athletes. So that by the time we retire, it's like, oh, yeah, I've seen the game from this perspective. I know exactly what I'm looking at. He's gonna come around. He comes under. I've been over here my whole. Those are my footprints from childhood. Right there.
[00:01:35] Speaker B: There.
[00:01:36] Speaker D: I've never been on that side. What's it like over there? Oh, my ankle, right?
Black athlete retires. He's on the sideline for the first time going, what the hell am I looking at? Just put me in. I'll fix everything, Right? White coaches know how to win with less. Black coaches sometimes have expectations that are too high. Those who can't, teach. Those who can, cannot teach. Michael Jordan could never coach basketball. He'd be like, come on, guys. Why is nobody dunking from the free throw line?
We talk about this every day in practice. Just jump over all five every time down the floor. These are fundamental.
[00:02:15] Speaker E: Yo, Pat, come here, man.
What's up, brother? What's up, man?
[00:02:24] Speaker C: How you doing?
[00:02:24] Speaker A: You good?
[00:02:25] Speaker E: I'm straight. I'm straight, man. Just working.
I ain't seen you in a long time, man. Yeah, I've been working.
I've been working, man.
Overtime every day. Okay. Yeah. Working like that? Just like that. That's. That's the only way. Come on, man. How else we gonna get it, huh? How the family doing, right, kids?

I don't know. I. I ain't seen them in a little while, man.
What you mean you ain't. Every time they put an overtime post up. I'm signing up, so I ain't even seen them, you know what I'm saying?
So. So you ain't seen your kids and how long Mr. Loved one birthday last. I know it was a birthday because it popped up on my phone, but. But I didn't make the party.
Had to work.
That's crazy, man. Because I'd be seeing them at the soccer games and stuff, man. I was wondering where you was at. I ain't know that. Working.
Working. That's pretty much so. So what you got planned this weekend, man? We should go get some wings or something. Yeah, no, I won't have no time to do that, man. I'm gon. You, man, ain't got no time for no wings or nothing like that, man. The wings paying bills.
No wings paying no bills.

How y' all doing? Welcome to another episode of Mandatory Overtime. I'm your main man, DJ High Star.
The aim here at Mandatory Overtime is for us to recalibrate and redefine manhood, as we shall do with one conversation at a time with our community. The community, of course, consists of you all.
It's simply a audio Journal of an 80s, baby. A social experiment, inconsistency. You could have been anywhere in the world, but you're here listening to me. For that, I appreciate you. I appreciate you. Let's not confuse this with the manosphere. It's a place where the man is fair.
So pull up a chair. Like comment, subscribe, share.
Feel free to engage as well. But make some noise, y'.
[00:19:32] Speaker F: All.
[00:19:32] Speaker B: Cause your main man is here. You heard live from the 704, 980 Charlotte, America.
What's happening?
We out here.
I 77, 277, 485. All of that 85. We out here.
Joined by my Russian sound engineer and a check, one, two.
A check, one, two.
You heard? Let's go to work.
What's good, everybody? What's good, everybody? I hope everybody's doing well today.
Salute to y' all for joining me once again. I appreciate that.
Fresh off again, the vacay. But then I just went to Baltimore. We're going to talk about that a little bit. Salute to my sister, my twin sister again. Happy birthday. I loved celebrating every moment with you. I'm so glad that I was able to make it up there. And I appreciate you again for doing that.
Had a birthday party up in Baltimore, you know. We still celebrating, but On Saturday as well. Early brotherly love to my. My brother, my frat brother, Pitt.
Ap.
AP and the Soulful Touch Choir. Gumbo Choir. Soulful Touch is the band and the collective, but the Gumbo choir and. And all of that in the Gumbo Fest. Salute to AP for giving me the opportunity to have the stage. He shared that. His stage with me or his platform with me, and I was able to. To DJ out there at the. Look at right there festival up here in Charlotte. So we're going to get into that as well.
But just some early brotherly love I gotta sen definitely to AP and then some sisterly love to my twin sister with that.
You know, we'll get to.
To all of our brotherly love later because I did see some more frat brothers up there in Baltimore and stuff like that. So just had overall good time and. And great weekend.
Hopefully everybody else is doing. All right, listen, I'm gonna go ahead and we're gonna start with some revisions from last week.
I didn't.
I'm trying to think, for the most part, when it came to St. Martin, if there was any, like, inaccuracies or anything like that. But one thing that I will say for today that your boy is, in other words, is a question. And the answer to that question will tell you guys how I'm moving forward with the episode for today.
All right, so it is.
The question is, what do you call a math wizard's work desk?
What do you call a math wizard's work desk?
Account table.
And that's what I'll be today, guys.
Account table.
Did y'. All. Hey, you know, caught in the left, champ.
Account table.
That's gonna be me today. But in all fast, I had a couple stories. Well, I mean, gonna protect some identities and stuff like that. There's a couple things I had to address.
The first thing, though, first things foremost. First and foremost, rather, again, whenever I talk about mandatory overtime here, we preface it with a place where the man is fair. This is not the man is fair, and it's a safe space. You know what I'm saying? I wanted to continue to be a safe space. So I will be the first to take accountability and say last week or in last week's episode, it was just simply import taste for me to let that audio get out, I suppose, without checking it or. Or like briefing it. If y' all heard me on the show. Those audio notes that I played from Fat Boy, I. I didn't edit them or I didn't listen to them beforehand, truth be told.
I'm just learning how to keep an audio note.
So that's all conspiracy in itself. But, yeah, I. I need to take accountability it. You know, first and foremost for those that it offended. As far as me uploading that.
And, yeah, it's definitely. It could be seen as just a lapse in judgment, just a misstep, if you will.
A misstep that can be considered, you know, without class, if you will, or without taste. So as a man, I am sorry, or excuse me, I apologize for not really, like, briefing or checking that audio note last week. With that being said, though, as I stated last week, with regards to the St. Martin or the Vegas trip, all engagement is welcome. And again, you know, today is the math wizard desk day.
Account table.
Account table.
So, yeah, so we're gonna get to some emails in a moment. I got one, I believe. And then also.
So that. So that was the first thing. Account table.
The second thing. Me and fat boy actually got into it this past week. I'm sure that he don't mind me telling the story and stuff like that over a small poker den.
[00:24:55] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:24:56] Speaker B: The story is, you know, yours truly, I was the victor that evening. And instead of.
[00:25:03] Speaker C: Let's.
[00:25:03] Speaker B: Long story less long. Instead of putting the bread up, I did not put my physical money up first, and that was my first mistake. And I say all of that to say that today I'm a math wizard's desk. Okay.
Account table.
Account table. So there's no, like, apologies or nothing like that that's needed, but I need to acknowledge that I was wrong in that situation. You heard there was a part of the arithmetic and the math equation that I did not account for, and I was loud and wrong.
So I'm just starting the week off in our revisions part with some accountability.
Just want to be, like I said, a math wizard's desk, if you will. Account table.
Now, I do want to move forward here and go into some building wisdom.
And then we'll get to the emails and we'll talk a little bit, like I said about the weekend.
To add positive energy to every nation to build, you must first start from the root, which is the knowledge foundation.
And I don't want to. The highest peak to destroy is to eliminate and destroy any and all negativity
[00:26:20] Speaker F: that enters my cipher of supreme harmony.
Peace, God.
[00:26:24] Speaker B: Peace, God.
[00:26:27] Speaker F: Do the knowledge. I know you gonna dig this.
[00:26:30] Speaker B: All right, so this week we're gonna go ahead and start off.
Excuse me. I'm gonna start off with brother Taz. He's got a couple simple, straight to the point we are all born to be a blessing. All right. Love that one here. Then he has. Believe in yourself. You've got what it takes.
[00:26:47] Speaker F: Right?
[00:26:48] Speaker B: Some encouragement from Brother Taz today. Before you assume, learn the facts before you judge, Understand why. Before you hurt someone, feel before you speak, think love that. All right. Appreciate you. And then, let's see here. Anxiety is a temptation in itself and also the source from and by which other temptations come. Therefore, above all else, calm and compose your mind. Gently and quietly pursue your aim. It's tough. That's tough.
See here. Got one from. From Brother Taz. Just live life day by day, and then also I choose to thrive in all areas of my life. So I love that. And thank you again, Brother Taz, my brother.
Appreciate you, Taz.
Let's go on to Cousin Jerome. Y' all know what time it is because of Jerome, so Cousin Jerome sent in a couple. I did see Cousin Jerome again. Listen, man, this is seeing Cousin Jerome again on Monday, but we'll get to that.
Let's see here. So let's start off with Thankful Thursday.
This is on behalf of. This is CS Lewis by way of Cousin Jerome. God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pain.
It is his megaphone to ruse a deaf world. Or to rouse. To rouse a deaf world.
Rouse. Excuse me. Y' all shout out to education, right?
We support intellectualism over here. Okay, so again, God whispers to us and our pleasures. So he's not very loud then. You know, I. It reminds me of a saying where they say, I guess, like, how. How many times do you go to God? Whenever things are going right, or something like that. But anyways, God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pains. It is his megaphone to rouse a deaf world.
Love that. All right, then we got be faithful in small things, because it is in them that your strength lies. I love that. And that reminds me of compound interest or a compound effect of things. So just little gains each day, small gains each day will ultimately lead to progress. All right, then we have here. Love is a fruit in season, at all times, and within reach of every hand. That said to be said by Mother Teresa.
And then I also have.
The melody is remembered long after the last note is played. Reflection, your words, kindness and example can continue encouraging others long after the moment has passed.
So salute. Salute. I appreciate you, of course, Brother Taz and Cousin Jerome, brotherly love. I appreciate y'.
[00:29:43] Speaker C: All.
[00:29:43] Speaker B: Appreciate y' all for sending that in. Now let's go ahead. Remove forward to the emails. Let me just check this out real quick. We're going to go ahead.
And here we go. All right, so the email start off the wisdom of perception.
Perception is one of life's greatest teachers because it is almost never finished. Our first impression is built from what we see. Our lasting perception is built from what time reveals. Here's a thought that captures that idea. Time is the one witness that never lies. First impressions are painted by moments, but true perception is sculpted by consistency. Anyone can look like something for a day, a week, or even a year. Eventually. Character speaks louder than appearance, and patterns tell a story that words never could. The longer you observe without rushing to judgment, the more your perception matures.
Wisdom isn't seeing what everyone else sees. It's recognizing what only time can uncover, and one that speaks to people specifically.
People don't always reveal who they are in conversations. They reveal who they are through repeated choices. Your perception should never be chained to your first impression.
Give time permission to introduce you to the truth.
Finally, one I think carries a lot of weight.
Perception is not about being right the first time. It's about being humble enough to let new evidence change your mind. The strongest minds don't cling to old conclusions. They grow with new understanding.
What you believed yesterday isn't nearly as important as what you've learned today.
If I could leave you with one sentence of wisdom, it would be this. Never fall so deeply in love with your first perception that you become blind to the truth. Time is trying to show you.
That, to me, is where wisdom lives. Not in making quick judgments, but in allowing time, experience, and consistency to refine the way that we see people, situations, and even ourselves.
All right, well, first and foremost, salute. Salute.
Salute to my brother, Mixmaster Master T. Mixmaster sent that in awesome as well, because he contributed to our building wisdom. Also, a lot of jewels in there with regards to perception and versus first impressions. And yeah, I. I agree with a lot of that.
And yeah, salute. I appreciate that. Thank you again. Thank you again, my brother.
Salute. Mix Master T.
I got a couple random some thoughts that we do want to go through, and I want to.
Let's see here.
I just wanted to go over a couple. Give me one second. Let's go ahead and pull this up.
All right, first one's a random tweet that I saw.
It says here, let's see.
It says, being in your 40s is wild. One friend is a grandma, One has a newborn.
One is celebrating 20 years married, and another is dating a 25 year old, half of us look 28.
The other half pulled a muscle sleeping.
No timeline, just vibes.
So that was.
Yeah, that is a hundred percent accurate. Because the myriad of friends and in my circle range from the old, old to younger, younger, younger. And partner left, ain't no. No funny business over here, you know, no Epstein. But as far as, you know, just the people I interact with, all of my Neos and stuff, frat brothers, and then all of the people that I consider mentors and big bros and stuff like that. So, yeah, that is that. Okay. And then I had another thing that I kind of jotted down, but we.
I guess I can play this. It says what nobody talks about, the curse of awareness. So let me go ahead and play this for y' all real quick.
[00:33:55] Speaker G: The truest words was from Nietzsche when he said that any man who knows too much can't. He can't fit in anywhere.
And that's a curse of awareness.
Once you start to delve underneath the surface, that's when you realize this whole world, it's not so simple. And you start to notice who people really are in the game, games they're playing, and that fake confidence, all the ulterior motives.
And you realize this whole society, it's built on lies and people, their sheep.
And once.
Once you see that, you can't unsee that. So you. You try. You try and tell people, but they say to you, no, no, you're overreacting. You are crazy. So you stop talking, but you're still observing. You're still watching.
But you know you don't belong anymore.
And it's not. It's not because you. You think you're the. You're too good for anyone. No, no, no. It's because you've seen too much and you're watching everything. And now you know you can't go back to how it was anymore.
[00:35:11] Speaker F: If you. If you.
[00:35:14] Speaker B: Nice salute to that audio note. I'm hope all y' all was able to make that out. Okay. It's actually just one random note that I actually have written down. But this is.
I don't know. I hope y' all feel me on this one, but I'm just gonna read what I have written down for y' all and it'll make sense. But it says, is dollar general going off of, like an honor system or something right now?
I'm just like the way that if anybody's been into a dollar General recently and then you end up, you know exactly what you're getting, so you go and you get your Albanese gummies and your Powerade Zero or whatever like that, right? Or you do rag with your texturizer grease or whatever you're getting from the Dollar General, but you get that joint fast.
And then you find yourself in front of the register with nobody there in a straight line. Beeline to the exit.
Is this a test? Lord, what's going on? It's like Dollar General is operating off of the honor system now or something like that. It was just an observation that I made.
If y' all agree, y' all listen. But every time I walk into it, and it's. I mean, family dollars a little bit as well, but with family dollars, I'm gonna be real, y'. All. Some of the places that family dolls are located, I would expect somebody to be running out with some stolen goods. But Dollar General DG kind of sturdy in certain areas. It's just. They're not staffed. They're not staffed correctly. It's one person that's scanning everything. He's stocking stuff as well. That's not supposed to go down like that. So that's just a random thought of mine this week, y'. All.
I do got to go to this commercial break real quick before we move forward. So I'm gonna go ahead and cut to this commercial. Y' all give me one second here, okay?
[00:37:16] Speaker A: If I put my hands up too fast, my belly coming out, baby.
If I'm laying down on the couch, my belly coming.
You know, when we making love, you know I'm keeping my shirt on, baby.
Cause anything you gotta know is there's nothing I would do above this. I gotta pull my shirt down.
I don't want you seeing too much. I gotta pull my shirt down.
I'm hiding my belly and stuff.
I'd rather lose all my teeth in a fight.
Then you see my belly pop out just right, baby.
You don't want to see it, girl.
[00:38:19] Speaker B: All right? So salute to the stylist or the sounds of that white brother that had the lemons of them hit us, baby.
I don't know if y' all remember that.
That's my man. That's the same dude. So salute to him. You know what I'm saying? I don't know how he got into our ad folder in the email, but, hey, the invoice went through.
Commercial paid for, my man. So you got it. All right, salute. Let's go ahead and move forward. We're going to move forward with a little bit of sports today. Talk some sports before I get to. Well, should I Kick it. Let's kick it real quick about the out for Lunch segment. Let's go out for lunch real quick. Or if we still got our sound effect for Alpha Lunch.
Yeah, I'm gonna go out for lunch real quick. So this past weekend, I'm gonna try to be quick as well, because I know the intro took a long time this week, y', all, but I appreciate y' all rock rocking with the long intros.
So again, if I could, I, yours truly, DJ High Star. I had the pleasure of DJing at the Looker Right There festival in Charlotte in the university area. So you had.
Yeah, Mr. Looker right there, Bernard Hardison.
We're gonna baptize these wings. Now, people don't realize the early on days from Bernard, he was going viral on Facebook for grilling big old bear arms and all of these exotic meats and snakes and pythons and stuff. But it was featuring your man, Mr. Bernard Hardison. Mr. Look at right there. Look at them wings right there. We're gonna baptize the wing right there. And then it also Featured your man, Mr. Les Barbecue. Okay. Softball oxtails. Some people call them kangaroo tails, but I feel like the oxtails. And he's a good brother. He's a good brother. All right. And then lastly, also featured Mr. Tendonism. Y' all know what time it is with Mr. Tendonism. All the virality and the, you know, the viral nature of his whole situation this past year out there on the West Coast. So all three of them was out there. Salute. Salute. First and foremost goes to Bernard for putting on the event. I think he spearheaded it. He did have sponsors that were read, you know, that people read through all. All day or whatnot. Salute. And sisterly love. And brotherly love to the hosts. So the hosts were one Mr. Woody McLean. Yes, Woody McLean.
[00:40:47] Speaker F: That.
[00:40:47] Speaker B: That Woody McLean. Okay. Talking about Kane. We're talking about Bobby Brown and the New Edition story, all of that, Right? And then the other host was. She's a former anchor out here in Charlotte on for the local Charlotte News, but her name is Lex Singleton. It's actually, I feel, you know,
[00:41:04] Speaker F: a
[00:41:04] Speaker B: close association with her because her husband is a close frat brother of mine and he's from Charleston, of course, but that's my dog. You know what I mean? Salute.
[00:41:12] Speaker F: Shout out.
[00:41:12] Speaker B: Ray, what up?
But so salute. And brotherly and sisterly love to the host as well. But again, Bernard, he put on a great show. The hosts were reading off sponsor list, so you would hear, you know, some of the sponsors. So I Did hear T. Grizzly.
All right. We heard TMac, Tracy McGrady, one of the sponsors, a lot of. You know what I'm saying? Different organizations, but different celebrities as well. A Draymond Green as well, one of the sponsors. So salute to everybody that helped put this on and put this together. Lines.
Let's go there real quick. Lines wrapped all around, up and down, everywhere. Every food truck pretty much had a line that you were standing in. Now, it could be seen as great for, you know, the. The moving that black dollar around and group economics, but weather wise, and as far as the elements, it wasn't really working too much. So they did have a lot of ambulances out there. People were passing out, having seizures, throwing up, and things of that nature.
So I pray that everyone is good and everyone is. Is. Is better from. From Saturday if. If they were going through any kind of health issues. As far as the music. Come on, y'.
[00:42:28] Speaker G: All.
[00:42:28] Speaker B: Y' all know what. Y' all know what time it is now. Y' all know what time it is now. I will say about A.P. and his band and his whole collective, I've seen them when they started, and not only has the brother just gotten better, but he has curated a group of talent that is unmatched. And I just gotta salute them. Ap, my brother, Soulful Touch, Gumbo choir, Gumbo Fest, all of y' all that's involved, the whole team. They showed me love, bunch of hospitality. So I appreciate you, my brother, again, for considering me. Thank you. Thank you. I was able to get Mixmaster T to come on out there, so he was able to get, you know, expose some of that. That house music to. To the rest of Charlotte, Give him a little taste. No pun intended it, but so Mixmaster T joined me and we. And of course, Reb was out there as well. Salute to Reb. Fighting the heat, getting me a fan for my computer, and salute to everybody that was out there. Like, we. We was jamming out, and then, you know, we had to end a little bit early, which I didn't mind, but we had to end it a little bit early because of all of the health issues that was going on as far as the people passing out and the heat and stuff like that. So let's go ahead and move on to the chain Chang.
Okay. Of everything, the only prices that I can kind of closely confirm, I can all the way confirm what I paid for. I got a chicken box from Bernard Hardison. Right? Look at there, look at.
[00:43:59] Speaker F: Right there.
[00:43:59] Speaker B: Look at them wings. But Mr. Oxtail, Mr. Les Barbecue.
[00:44:03] Speaker A: I heard.
[00:44:04] Speaker B: I heard his vibes, his oxtail.
Four for a hundred dollars. That's what I heard. That's what I heard. I'm, you know, I'm looking for confirmation. I think that he might have had the option for three of that type of stuff. And, you know, these guys had sides here and there and all that, but 4, 400 oxtail.
People support it, though, right? This. This is an event, so people support it.
Mr. Bernard, he hit. He hit that. That chicken box was hitting for a 40 piece. Like, $40, not 40 pieces of wings.
[00:44:34] Speaker G: All right?
[00:44:35] Speaker B: I'm just saying that. $40, that's cool, though. You know what I mean? Word to the in.
In, baby boy. $40.
You know what I'm saying? I went ahead and scooped up the chicken box. So now, the chicken box consisted of about, I want to say, six to eight wings. It could have been eight, but it probably was six wings, four sides. A sweet treat, which was a peach cobbler and a roll. Now, the four sides, you ask, I'm glad to tell you.
So the four sides, you had Mac and cheese, which is pretty straight. He used ziti noodles, which I don't know about, but whatever, you know, I think that might cover more surface area when you're doing, like, larger groups maybe. But nevertheless, he used ziti noodles.
Then we had stream beans or green beans, some, like, a rice pilaf,
[00:45:28] Speaker F: and
[00:45:28] Speaker B: then some pasta salad. Pasta salad. All right, so those were the four sides. Now, my only gripe, if you will, or my only, like, thing that I caught or was observant about, the sides were very shallow dishes. Come on, man. Who y' all fooling? Listen, y' all talking to DJ High Start. So we've been talking about portion control here on mandatory overtime for about a year now. All right, okay.
You're not fooling anybody with the sides. But now, again, nevertheless, free admission to this fan festival. So the price kind of, I feel like, was baked into the cost of the plate. Y' all see what I'm saying? So that $40, I believe, is justified for the experience of being out there, meeting them, watching them drop the chicken in. Into the grease and all of that stuff. And then overall, just kind of getting that. That dollar circulating out there.
So everybody, you know, kind of had a. A standard set and everything like that. So salute, man. Salute once again to Bernard.
I heard Be Easy say this, but Bernard is. I think he might.
I think the brother's 30th birthday still has yet to come. Put it like that. And that's no shade. That's no. That's no shade. It's all brotherly love to you, Bernard. But I did hear Be Easy Said on the podcast and they want to confirm. Yeah, the brother, he's not. He's not our age, bro. He's not our age. He just looked like an old unc because he. He know how to cook, you know what I'm saying? You know how to do his thing on that grill. Hopkins, South Carolina, I believe. Hopkins, South Carolina. But salute. Shout out.
Shout out and salute.
Now moving forward, right?
Seemingly right after that. But Sunday morning, I went ahead and we traveled up the road to Bodymore, Baltimore, North Maryland, to help my twin sister celebrate. She had a day party up there. Celebrating.
[00:47:26] Speaker C: Come after me. I'm a man. I'm for.
[00:47:28] Speaker B: I know what time it is. So we were all celebrating still up there in Baltimore. Had a great time. Soon as I touched down. Had a good time. Not a long time. So as soon as we got there, we had to, you know what I mean? Get our boogie woogie on, get our party on.
Excuse me. Pardon me. Had a little libation. Some libations, if you will.
Turned up the night.
Salute to Hershey's. I never made it out to Hershey's. You know, if my. If my cousin Chris is listening. I never made it out there. But shout out and brotherly love and sisterly love to all my family that I saw up there. Everybody that I met that works with my sister as well. On the way back, we did stop at a place called Croakers Soul food spot. And there's one location in Richmond, but one location in Petersburg, like Old Town Petersburg and Virginia, that is. And yeah, the food was fantastic. I enjoyed the. The experience overall. Probably give it about a 8.9, 8.5 as far as the whole experience on the. So there were opportunities, but overall we had a great time. I met my frat brother up there close. Frat brother, shout out to Helly L. But I did meet, you know, o' Brien from. From El. From Morris. So salute, brother.
Now, like I said, all of the food banging. So I can't wait to make it back up there. Salute to croakers.
Made it back down.
Play some poker last night.
Played some poker, but we won't get into that. All right. We're not gonna get into that.
Nah. Salute the fat boy. He pulled off the dub. You know, we normally don't even talk about the winners and all of that stuff with poker, but salute to fat boy. Certainly he got that W. Okay, so we Wanted to talk quickly about sports. Wanted to go ahead and get to sports real quickly.
I will say this Salute to an awesome career. Russell Westbrook.
Russell Westbrook. Out of everything that you've done in your career, my brother, like the determination that you had after your. Your close friend and person I was a true fan of Nipsey Hussle was murdered after he was murdered. The performance that you put for the 20 points, 20 rebounds, 20 assists, bruh, that's some of the best basketball that I've ever seen. The most determined basketball and focus basketball that I've ever seen, bro.
You know, when you did it so they could total 60, you know, if you didn't know if you know, you know, type, type of deal, but not similar to what your post game interview was. So if you ever stumble upon mandatory overtime, brother, we just giving you brotherly love over here, bro. I know you got a bad rap in the league a lot of times because of your passion, you know, you'll have other people, dudes of different hues, you know what I'm saying? Exude that same passion, you know. And I don't want Tom Brady to catch no strays or nothing like that but. Or any anybody else. But I'm just saying. Or Lucas of the world to catch any strays. But other people are allowed to be a lot more passionate than we are and it be, you know, not taken as a threat. And then also the type of teammate that you are, Russell. So I just wanted to mention those things on your the heels of the announcement that you'll be retiring my brother, Russell Westbrook. Russell Westbrook, man salute. Stayed in OKC when everybody else boogied and everybody else had to run on. So I also have listed here Kawhi saga continues. I have to kind of follow up with that next week, but Pablo Torre is still chasing down Kawhi Leonard, Steve Ballmer and the Clippers and looking for some hard evidence opening night in the NBA schedule that's been announced or whatnot.
[00:51:24] Speaker F: Salute.
[00:51:25] Speaker B: Salute to the New York Knicks. We'll actually guess who, right? Of course we'll be playing the Philadelphia 76ers.
The LeBron James is Philadelphia 76ers. So that should be exciting. I don't know what to say to that. Like, yeah, can't wait. Bart Scott voice you heard.
So let's go ahead to it is what it is. Correspondent Josh Smith and let's hear his thoughts about the opening night real quick.
[00:51:56] Speaker D: Quick.
[00:51:56] Speaker B: Let's hear his thoughts on it, y'.
[00:51:58] Speaker C: All.
[00:51:58] Speaker F: This right here is bad for business. And I'll tell you why. Your new little super, your little super team or whatever that you want everybody to watch all year, they're gonna lose about 30 on this night. I'll tell you that right now. They're gonna lose. They're gonna lose about 30. You know why? Tell you why.
Because that's all these three know right here. Braun wasn't here yet. Jalen Brown wasn't here yet. But you three, y' all got that broom. I got that broom.
[00:52:22] Speaker C: Sweep.
[00:52:22] Speaker B: Sweet, baby.
[00:52:25] Speaker F: Don't and don't forget it. Y' all the ones that started the sweet fest care about Philly. We wanted. We wanted y'.
[00:52:31] Speaker C: All.
[00:52:31] Speaker F: Y' all didn't want us, but I
[00:52:32] Speaker B: guess we can get into the analytics.
So salute. Salute to Stephen A. Smith's nephew, Josh Smith, though.
Yeah, you know, my sentiments exactly, Josh.
That should be a great game regardless. But one thing is for sure, we will be getting our rings that night.
Okay?
Just let this ride for a little second.
[00:52:56] Speaker A: Man.
[00:53:12] Speaker B: Salute. Salute.
[00:53:13] Speaker A: Salute.
[00:53:13] Speaker B: All right, so we've got some also somewhat breaking news that we got here.
Let's see.
I want to find a credible source so I could get all the information that we need with this. But.
So the Los Angeles Lakers, they're being sold to an ownership group that's led by Josh Kushner and Bob Iger. The businessman confirmed to NBC News on Wednesday. The deal for the storied franchise had a 12.5 billion dollar price tag. Two people familiar with the matter said as lifelong NBA fans were deeply honored for the opportunity to become stewards of the Los Angeles Lakers, one of the most iconic sports franchises in the world.
That's what Iger and Kushner said. We have immense respect for the leadership and vision of Jerry and Genie Bus. Our long term commitment is to build on that foundation, compete at the highest level and serve this extraordinary team, its fans and the city of Los Angeles.
If I'm.
[00:54:17] Speaker F: I have.
[00:54:18] Speaker B: Again, this is breaking news. So I haven't connected the dots, but the Kushner name sounds familiar, y'.
[00:54:23] Speaker A: All.
[00:54:24] Speaker B: If, if you know politics and then Bob Iger sounds familiar too. I mean, you know, when you start talking about this wealth and people's wealth as far as wealthy people, those names, you know, you'll start to hear them a lot, a lot, a lot more. So start doing a little bit of ties and stuff like that and figure out what's really going on. But it's like they looking for somebody to try to compete with Steve Ball. I don't. Nobody's close to it and nobody can. But that's what it appears perhaps. I don't know.
What are you guys thoughts on that before we, you know, I mean, get anywhere close to the end of the show? I definitely have to do my engagement plug. I should have done this a lot earlier in the show. But if you like to email the show, feel free. Mandatory ot704gmail.com that's mandatoryotype ot704gmail.com also you can call in 7047-8170-1170-4781-7011 and leaving audio note or message. We'll make sure that you're heard and make sure that you're following us on the socials at mandatory ot. All right, we appreciate that.
Now moving forward to our it was all a stream segment.
Let's see is crash out boys update.
Let's see. We talked about bang spar. Ray J pulled up to the warehouse because Sauce Walker had arrived to the warehouse and he arrived to California. So they did spar it up a little bit. But also they're kind of warming up to each other. So they did, you know, man to man, touch gloves and, and get it in in the ring. Sparring partner left.
However, again, as you can see a lot of times in the streets, sometimes when you're fighting somebody or you get into a fight and maybe you didn't want to fight as much or the other person didn't want to fight as much, but both of you showed heart and actually still fought and shot the fair one. Then respect is a lot of times earned and it's not always that people become friends and stuff like that. But you'll see that it's not unfamiliar to see people get cool after they squabble or, you know what I mean, Shoot the fair one. So salute to Ray J and source Walker. Brotherly love, I guess. And I think, I think Sauce Walker is more than likely talking to Ray J on the side perhaps about the Book of Sugar. I'm just saying if, if I was in Ray J's circle, I would be, you know, you know, we need this content from you, Ray J. Not the powdered up skiing content you heard. Allegedly. Allegedly.
So when it comes to DNA, Beato kind of seeing a lack of focus from Dean. I know that they keep saying he has a fight coming up. He did have a sparring match. They, they set it up with a 16 year old from Tiafimo Lopez's camp. Because Tiafimo came into the gym.
It just, yeah, I mean, it looked like he was fighting a 16 year old. I mean, now the 16 year old could go. But Dean, you know, you don't get too many points for fighting somebody that, you know, can't even buy alcohol or, or you know what I mean by cigarettes on his own. So salute though. I hope that they continue to train, those brothers continue to train. It's still team crash out boys over here. Y' all already know what it is.
Let's go ahead and move forward. Also real quickly. Julian Newman and Jaden Newman, if y' all familiar with this tandem, his brother and sister tandem, they. I consider them Truman show babies. And now the.
The seeds are sprouting fruit, if you will, of teaching these kids that any press is good press or virality is good. Going viral.
The sister, Jaden apparently has an only fans right now.
So hold on, y'.
[00:58:05] Speaker A: All.
[00:58:05] Speaker B: Yeah, let's play this.
Listen, I don't want nothing to do with it, but it just creeped me out because her brother, I think that nigga's name is. Oh, it's Julian or Justice Julian, I think. But little young basketball players, Ball is life. He's online and he's kind of saying that she's going to be the next Kim K and everything like that. I don't think that they are taking like, you know, life seriously enough or what. I don't know how else to put it, but that essentially is what was going. I can't. I don't even have too much to offer with that Julian Newman and Jaden Newman story. It just was. It was strange. It was weird. I thought I would share with my audience. That's all. You know what I'm saying? That's all.
But yeah, I. Yeah, that's. That's kind of all I got this week.
I believe if. If not, I'm gonna follow up next week and, and we'll just, you know, we'll pick up next week, but let's go ahead and.
Because I don't have any high Star bars for the day, we can consider that asap. Rocky and Natalia, the creator, perhaps the high star bars, but I don't have any others for the day. So what we going to do here?
[00:59:22] Speaker F: Do the knowledge show.
[00:59:24] Speaker C: Love it don't show nothing.
[00:59:26] Speaker B: It don't cost nothing to show a. Are we doing this? Getting money, Showing some love.
[00:59:32] Speaker C: So love it don't show nothing.
[00:59:34] Speaker B: It don't cost nothing to show a.
[00:59:37] Speaker C: Who love.
[00:59:39] Speaker B: All right. So salute, salute and brotherly love to all my brothers out there.
Like I stated, ap, thank you Again, brother, for the opportunity and allowing me to play out there at the festival. I appreciate you.
Thank you, Devin, for showing up to our party, to the birthday birthday party, helping me and my sister celebrate 40 years.

[01:02:38] Speaker G: All.
[01:02:38] Speaker B: You heard.
Salute to Big Jerome as well.
And, yeah, we got a couple other sisterly loves, of course. Shout out to Reb, like I said earlier, Amy, Deuce, Deuce, Patriot Patty.
Big sisterly love to my twin sister as well. So salute.
Salute to everybody. That's rocking with the kid, man. And rocking with the show, of course.
This next part, I mean this sincerely, in the sincerest ways, y'.
[01:03:13] Speaker E: All.
[01:03:13] Speaker B: I mean all of these words in the most sincere ways. All right?
But this next part comes with supreme faith that's in God.
I just mean this like I said, his words have power. So this next part comes with supreme faith. That same God. Excuse me. Supreme faith that's in God's coming straight from the heart.
May the ego and the hubris never break us apart from one brother to another. If nobody's ever told you before, I love you.
All right. And one last message to my haters.
Being liked is completely overrated. All right, thank you for tuning in to mandatory overtime. Peace.
Hey, everybody, it's closing time.
You don't gotta go home, but you can't stay here.
Closing time.
[01:04:17] Speaker F: I know you gonna do the Knowledge.
[01:04:27] Speaker C: Come after me. I'm a man. I'm 40.
[01:04:30] Speaker B: I'm 40 years old. Exact.
[01:04:34] Speaker C: It's 40 times n.
[01:04:44] Speaker F: You're down to mix with DJ High Star when it's cold outside.
