[00:00:03] Speaker A: Y. Yo, what up, bro? Y' all stand for O.T. yeah. Nah, get that bread, bro. Y' all gotta stay for O.T. listen up, workers. Overtime is mandatory this weekend. No excuses. [00:00:41] Speaker A: Greta the tittle tattle prattled on about [00:00:43] Speaker B: the little metal bottle. [00:00:44] Speaker A: She spat a bit of spittle on the modern brittle cattle in a better battle. Hey, hey. Stop questioning my method. Yeah. I was chosen for this task for a very good reason. Down [00:01:06] Speaker C: like that. [00:01:07] Speaker B: No, you going to dig this. [00:01:21] Speaker A: I feel like something. I feel like something. [00:02:05] Speaker B: Let me work. Please let. We work. Like that. [00:02:42] Speaker A: Let's turn it up. Let's get the energy out. Who knows something about this man? Y' all know about this man, huh? Shout out to Mixmaster T. Everybody at Club Chair. What's happening? Like that. [00:03:08] Speaker B: Like that. [00:03:24] Speaker A: You got me hanging on the stream. Let me hear y' all out there. You, you, you got me hanging on. You gotta let it break down once. Contemplating my heart and my love. Let him say it again. All right, let's get to it, y'. All. Let's get to it. Let's get to it. Let's get to it. [00:04:04] Speaker B: Let me work. Please let me work. Let me work. Please let me work. [00:04:12] Speaker A: Let's do this. Hold on, hold on. Name that sample. Karaoke in this one, y'. All, I get money like they don't hey, realistically, the club with me ain't no into a G. Let your hair [00:04:42] Speaker B: blow in the breeze. [00:04:49] Speaker A: What y' all know about this, though? Carry on the match, let's fly. Just watch champagne in my cockpit. As we proceed. Hey, I'm out here living it. What's happening, what's happening out here? Giving it the gang, gang, gang, gang, gang. All right, all right, that's enough of the intro. What's up, what up, what up, what up? What's happening, y'? All? What's good? What's good? Welcome to another episode of Mandatory Overtime. I'm your main man, DJ High Star, and the place to be. Appreciate y' all joining me here, man. It's just a. The aim here, mandatory Overtime, first and foremost, is for us to recalibrate manhood. That's what each our definition of manhood. That's with each conversation with the community and the community that consists of you all. All right. It's simply a audio Journal of an 80s, baby, but also a social experiment. Inconsistency. You could have been anywhere in the world, but you're here listening to me. And for that, I appreciate you. All right, give yourselves a round of applause. I appreciate that, man. Appreciate y'. All. Now, don't confuse this with the manosphere. It's just a place where the man is fair. So pull up a chair like comment, subscribe, share, but most importantly, make some noise. Cause your main man is here. You heard? Reporting live from Charlotte, America. 704, 980. I'm saying homo the sauce walker, THC shop. It's not an ad. I'm just saying. I did. I did go by there and everything, yo. However, just to market. Market research purposes. But yeah, shout out to the Russian sound engineer and it. Check, one, two, A. Check, one, two. [00:06:54] Speaker B: Like that. [00:06:55] Speaker A: All right, let's go to work. I think we. Gucci. What's good, everybody? I appreciate everyone that tuned in last week to last week's episode. Do have a couple. Well, one quick revision or something that I wanted to mention last week that I didn't get an opportunity to. But in with prediction markets. We were talking about prediction markets last week. So with the advertising of it, it's. The terms are being coined as trading versus gambling. So I don't know. Keep an eye on that. You know, the devil's in the details. It's all about the language that they use. So just be mindful. That's all. So I did want to bring that up. Just watching the. The terminology of that. I noticed that instead of saying gambling or betting, they're saying trading. Come on. Our Prof. On our platform. And trade. And trade for different. It's gambling, all right? It's gambling. Let's be. Let's be real. But nevertheless, nevertheless, I think y' all all know what time it is. I think before we get into building wisdom for the week, I did want to show some early brotherly love. Cousin Jerome, he popped out. Popped out to Charlotte, y'. All. Cousin Jerome was here in Charlotte, Reiterated to him about the show and how he's a recurring character. So he made two tune in this week. But, yeah, shout out to cousin Jerome. He's playing softball in an adult softball league out here. Well, they actually. They go on a circuit, like kind of how AAU does. So they had a tournament out here in Huntersville. And because that. Well, I'm sorry, bro. I'm sorry that he hit like three home runs. Two or three home runs, yo. See ya. And more importantly, though, the Grays, his team, the Grays, they. They won the championship. So salute and brotherly love to them. But let's get right into it, though. Come Here, get ready to build some wisdom. [00:09:04] Speaker B: Yo, no disrespect, but we ain't in all of that, son. [00:09:06] Speaker C: Build, destroy the builders. To elevate the mentalities of self and those around self, to add positive energy to every nation. To build, you must first start from the root, which is the knowledge foundation. And I don't want to. The highest peak. To destroy is to eliminate and destroy any and all negativity that enters my cipher of supreme harmony. [00:09:26] Speaker A: Peace, God. [00:09:27] Speaker C: Peace, God. [00:09:28] Speaker A: Come on, son. [00:09:31] Speaker B: Do the knowledge. [00:09:33] Speaker A: I know you gonna dig this. All right, so I want to start off with a couple things Cousin Jerome sent. Let's see here. So, all right, let's see here. Start with last Wednesday. But it says, be not afraid of growing slowly. Be afraid only of standing still. Tough. All right. Also, what lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters. Let me read that over y'. [00:10:06] Speaker B: All. [00:10:06] Speaker A: What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us. All right, Salute. Also, when you arise in the morning, think of what oppression. Excuse me. Think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive, to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love. All right, okay. And then more from Cousin Jerome. Some people want it to happen. Some wish it would happen. Others make it happen. Michael Jordan, shout out to mj. All right, and here comes some Friday funniest. Or I'm sorry, y', all, hold on. Here comes some Friday funnies. All right? Sometimes I look at people and think, somewhere out there, there's a village missing its idiot, right? And Friday, the golden child of the weekend, the superhero of the work week. The welcome wagon of the weekend. Or the welcome wagon to the weekend shut out. And then more more recently put this. Today was more poignant. Let's see, it says, I was created on purpose and for a purpose. Then this is Ephesians 2 and 10. We are God's masterpiece, created to do good things. So salute to Cousin Jerome for the wisdom for the week. Appreciate you my back for any engagement and for you to submit your wisdom or any other kind of emails and everything like that chat. Feel free to email the show. Mandatory ot704gmail.com. Mandatory ot704gmail.com or give us a call 7047-8170-1170-4781-7011. And we'll be able to get you, you know, your email read or your voicemail heard on the air and everything like that. All right? So as a Knicks fan, we have expectations, of course, put on Us, fairly or unfairly, but, you know, we have to treat everything as business as usual. So. I know I just, you know, I tuned into the closeout game against the Hawks. I closed out everything, my surroundings, and isolated myself to watch the game. And, you know, as the score was ballooning and ballooning, all I could say is, you know, so that's all. I'm gonna keep it that. And salute poor job well done to the Knicks moving forward. We will be playing Philadelphia this evening. So. Yeah. Yeah, y' all heard me, right? Yeah. Did he say what? Wait, did he say that correctly? Yes. We're not playing the Boston Celtics. Let all of that breathe. We're not playing the Boston Celtics. We are playing the Philadelphia 76ers, who beat Boston in seven games. So, you know, that's going to be our matchup, and salute it. Listen, we are focused. I'm more scared for the teams that we play versus, you know, what. What we're going to do, because I see our level of focus and our attention detail right now at this moment. So I'm excited for the game this evening against Philly. Shout out to our Villanova Wildcats that are on our team. So Philly is kind of like a backyard, you know, it's not too far as well up 95. So we shall see a lot of fans. Joel, you already sounding thirsty, telling y', all, fans, don't sell any tickets to the Knicks. Listen, brother, let that. Let that stadium arena be sold out with whoever spends that dollar, okay? Ain't that America? Ain't that America, huh? Salute to the Knicks, though. We didn't even. It wasn't. I was thinking about doing an emergency recording. But listen, yo, I told you, I'm not playing that song until the job is done, all right? And if we fall short, then the song's not getting played. All right? But in the meantime, Go, New York. Go, New York. Go. All right. The other two teams to make it to the Eastern Conference semifinals, the Cleveland Cavaliers, Game 7 win against the Raptors. And the Detroit Pistons, a Game 7 win against Orlando Magic. Now, if the Knicks were placed in a game seven, it would be hell and high water raised about how we underperforming. We're not taking care of business, not eating our food and not doing what we got to do. But the other three teams that advanced, all seeing the game seven. Now, granted, with the Sixers, you know, they triumphed over the favorite. They were the underdog, so cool. But the other two teams, Cleveland, Detroit, y' all had a little trouble in the first Round. Okay, So I just say that to say y' all get off the Knicks back. All right? Y' all stop it with the bias commentary and. And. And all of that stuff. As far as these. These auxiliary shows on these sports networks where they're just able to give their opinion on stuff. It's nauseating because they're off and wrong. Colin Coward, Bill Simmons, shout out to all of them Boston fans, though, out there. I mean, I already spent too much time on y'. All. That's how y' all could tell that the hate is real, though, all right? That's how you can tell. Like I told y', all, the mind stars could win the championship. But it's so, so, so, so sweet to see Joe Missoula and the Celtics out of it. But brotherly love, though. Brotherly love to y'. All. Salute. Salute. The west coast, they got their thing going on. The Lakers is about to play the Thunder. And then what's the other hand? Let me get in the West, San Antonio, and forgive me, my bad. Oh, not Minnesota, is it? Yeah, San Antonio, Minnesota. It's going to be a little tough one for Minnesota. They're a little banged up right now with injuries, and San Antonio is trying to, you know, do that thing. I do want to say this before we get off of sports, though. Let's all not forget who the NBA cup champion was this past year. All right? So we have footage against the Spurs. It's not a insurmountable task or anything like that if that happened to be what we face down the line. But right now, we worried about what's in front of us one game at a time, all right? Four games each series and. And the job is done. So we're gonna see. We're gonna see what the Knicks got in store. Best prayers for all of the players this evening as far as their health and. And to stay free of injuries and to have some good competition going on. But also Dyson Daniels. Dyson Daniels. Come here, brother. Come here, bro. All right, I know you guys were losing by 60 something points, but for you to put your hands on Mitchell Robinson like that, you just watch it, all right? You might be starting something that you. You can't finish next year, so you just watch it. Watch yourself, all right? Let's just move on forward. This is some random thoughts that I had or one random thought mainly. That's. That. That's. That's kind of getting at me or bugging me, if you will. But the. The. The ownership of terms and terminology in today's Society, it's giving the credit to Gen Z and age, like younger people versus giving it to black people. Right? Let's. Let's just be real, right? Got to call it for what it is. But that's what I see. These younger black children that are setting the standard for what we're using or terms that are cool and being used in the, in mainstream. All right? And I just want to give credit where credit is due. So the New York younger generation, you know, kaisen that to the world and all them streamers and stuff like that, lot, a lot of terms dumb them guys have bought to the forefront, you know, Riz, of course. And the, the terms themselves, if you're not, if the term isn't timeless, then it's going to phase out and, you know, mark a certain time. All right, you don't believe me? Look at the word butter. Okay, look at the word. But look at the word fat. P H A T, okay, is going to show us, okay, where we were in that time jive. Right? But certain lingo and stuff like that is timeless. So cap, instead of lying, is starting trying to penetrate its way through, I guess, the lexicon. I know, I know, but people are using cap over it doesn't matter how old you are. They're saying, oh, let's camp. Okay, brother. You know, so salute to Atlanta in the Atlanta black community or whoever made that cap term popular. Remember, you know, I remember thought, okay, coming from the Midwest with Chicago and stuff and like I said, New York having their terms, but the west coast as well, squabble and different. You weird. You know, certain things like that are bringing this way to the forefront. And just wanted to point out, like I said, it's not a Gen Z thing. It seems to be like a black or inner city thing, more or less. And then the subsequents of that black or, or urban or like I, I feel like black. So one of the subsets of that would be the urban or, you know, rural slang. So you got country and, and city slang, but then you got the community, lgbtqia. Plus, you got them, they contribute a lot to the phrases in the words that we use nowadays. All right, and you got, like I said, you got the New York examples, the west coast examples, and then some of the Chicago and Atlanta examples of the lingo that is stolen or reappropriated, if you will, co opted and used in the mainstream. But the other thing that has always kind of bothered me underlying, and this is a random thought or get it off your chest, but any of the, you Again, if you remember the episode that we did about people selling their masters and selling their work and AI versus ip, you know, we give up these masters for these big checks, and then you'll see a blood pressure medicine. Singing Mary J. Blige like, oh, yeah, hold on, hold on. [00:21:46] Speaker B: Eczema isn't always obvious. [00:21:50] Speaker A: Yeah, this is. This is not an ad, y', all, by the way. It is an ad, but there's not an ad that's paying us to hear this with. [00:22:05] Speaker B: Moderate to. [00:22:09] Speaker A: Yo, I missed that last. But, man, Evergliss, who'd y' all clear that with? Damn. Lock Puffy up and then just play all the. What? Evergliss? Real Love. I'm searching. Oh, my gosh, that's wild. So that's not the only example, of course. But y' all see what I'm getting at. I'm not a fan. I'm not a big fan. Real quickly, before we move forward, kind of some breaking news somewhat. But Jamal. Jamal Mosley, the coach for the Orlando Magic, he's been fired after his. After their season. So, I mean, and I feel bad for. For the brother he did. You know, they did everything they could through the play in and played Detroit very, very well as well. But yeah, NBA cutthroat, there you have it. So they. They fired Mosley or whatnot. But yeah, so, yeah, these songs and these commercials, you know, now I will be fair. I will be fair. This last past week Journey song, I think, is that Journey. We're living on a prayer. It's been stuck in my head because of the State Farm commercial. I'll be honest. It's got Danny McBride and Michael Key in it. And yeah, they stop there. And that. That's been stuck in my head. So it's. It's a white and a black thing. It's just a. About protecting music, though, and the sanctity of music because y' all are bugged out. But nevertheless, moving forward, I know I was mentioning a little bit the regions whenever it comes to lingo and slang or whatnot, but today I did want to have a sobering conversation, a sobering conversation with us as a community and for us to look at the results. Let's take a ten year look back. I seen a lot of different things recently. 2016 party, throwback party to the 2016s, and they're playing a bunch of Drake and stuff. Like you think to yourself, Dang, it's been 10 years. So I like to look at the. The young leaders that we held accountable 10 to 15 years ago and where are they now? And compartmentalize it better in regions. So I want to see what regions. And we can kind of debate this so you guys can write in, but I want to see what regions have been more most responsible with their platforms and that. That'll kind of lead us to where we're going today. So what regions have given us the best talent? That's what I wrote down. As I work through the whole topic and stuff. It's got to be coupled with responsibility so that you can allow that talent to cultivate and grow. You know, if you stunt that talent with being irresponsible or recklessness, then it cancels itself out and the talent means nothing. So I want to start off on the East Coast, I guess. Let's start off the. Well, not the furthest east, but Pennsylvania. So Pennsylvania, we got Pittsburgh and Philadelphia in that state. Pittsburgh has produced products. Yeah, Wiz Khalifa's of the world. Okay. Culturally, you got Amber Rose coming out of Pittsburgh, but Mac Miller as well. Rest in peace to the. To the brother. So those products have come out of Pittsburgh. Shout out to Wiz for his longevity, sustainability. He has, let's say, not commercialized weed, but he has carried the weed torch from Uncle Snoop Dogg, let's say. Right. So he has carried that torch. And Amber gave us the Slut walk salute, I guess. But again, Mac Miller, shout out to you, my brother, for the art that you contributed to the. To the culture and for not having any N Word videos out there that we know at the moment. And again, rest in peace. Rest in peace. That was a cool white boy. So. But that's. That's Pittsburgh side of Pennsylvania. Then you got Philly. Philly. Philly. So you got Meek Mill out there. And shout out to Meek. I think he has carried Philly on his back for over a decade now. And through his beefs through the street things and stuff like that, he's kind of with withstood all the adversity. Now you got AR ab. He's locked up. Gotta be honest. Okay. Rest in peace to Gilly's son, Cheese. We know what happened out there with that and all of the street violence that's been going on in Philly. But the bright spot is Gillian Wallow. For all of the flag that they get and all of the criticism that they get, salute to those brothers. They have done more good for the community than anything to. From. From what my eyes see. So salute to them for putting on for their city. Yeah, let's. Let's move on to New York. So New York as a whole. We got Buffalo. That's entered the chat, of course, Griselda. And then you got Syracuse and Rochester. All these different places outside of the city where, you know, they've been holding it down for the real. Where's where we at? Oh, for the real. Hip hop, Hip hop. And they've been doing that for. For the past like, five years, if you will. Five to seven years. Griselda, Conductor Williams, all of these guys. So shout out to that movement coming back. You know, real bars, hip hop, hip hop. But let's look at New York, New York, y', all a little bit. Y' all are all over the place. All right, we allowing Cardi and Nikki to be the face of female rap in New York. I'm just. I don't have much to say about women. We're not. I don't think that that's too much of a manly trait. So I keep that one short and sweet, but I think that speaks for itself. Cardi and Nikki are being a representation of female hip hop. We can go back and forth about the slaps and the songs and charting and being number one hits and stuff, but we got to call a spade of spade. Remember, this is a sobering conversation, all right? Not be drunk with fan hood or anything like that, but the women can be better role models. They could be. And then you got wook of elder metal detectives who's cheating on her child. You know, whatever, Whatever. Whatever's going on. She's going with the compare foods version of her child's father, you know, so it's a lot going on with female rap representation, but male rap and male hip hop, okay, you got Fat Joe redrawing narratives. All right, we got Jim Jones out here. He's trying. He is trying, but he is a. At heart. I just. We got a sobering, sobering. Who else do we got out there in the city? I mean, you know, Jada kissing. You got Joe Budden and of course, out there in Jersey and somewhat being responsible, but Joe's just simply carving his lane in. In the uncensored media space to, you know, not necessarily a shock jock, but, you know, just in that space of. I don't like using the term black Howard Stern, but edgy Edge. Lord, if you will. But I say that to say it's not been real productive for our community as a whole. I don't feel thinking of some other New York artists. You got a boogie with the hoodie. It's been. I mean, these guys are quiet, but I Don't know if that's indicative of the money not kind of coming in frequently or just staying low, having a low profile and enjoying the fruits of your labor. But A Boogie's prodigy, Don Q. I would have liked to see more out of him in the past decade. It seemed like that he was supposed to be leading the pack. And salute to Corey Guns. We'll. We'll play Summit Freestyle from him a little bit later. But Corey Gunn should have been further. I feel. I mean, lyric wise now, whenever it comes to being an artist or recording artist, it's similar to me to a basketball football player. And it's important. Important where you get drafted at and where you land. So the team around you is super important. How much support and how many resources you have around you is very, very important. So I will consider that with. With the Corey Gunn situation. But New York as a whole, again, Bronx, a lot of violence going on. All of that fake drill stuff that they in a cosplaying from Chicago and everything like that. Then you got the embarrassing stuff with Lil TJ and kind of how he moves around. It's not. It's not good representation coming out of New York, in my opinion. Let's go ahead and move forward St. Louis. All right. All I know about St. Louis is honcho and Sexy Red. And that speaks for itself. All right. And moving forward. Memphis. Memphis. Murray, this is a. Kind of a tricky one. Well, no, it's not tricky at all. Sobering look at Memphis. Come on, y'. All. A deeper look is y' all are still recovering from MLK assassination. You really want to get deep with it as a city. As a city, y' all are still recovering. So all the way from Orange Mound to North Memphis, South Memphis, whatever. The music is the music. But, yeah, I got too much street stuff going on. All right, Rest in peace, Dolph. And I'll just a host of other people that have lost their lives out there. Yo, Gotti, look, brother, we got a sober conversation if you. If you'd like. And you can cosplay as a record executive or you want. I was around for cocaine music, all right? And I know that you wasn't lying in your music, man. All right? So whatever street ties and stuff like that like. Now listen, this is not an informant podcast today, but I just want us to have a sober conversation about where our leaders have gotten us thus far. So with Memphis, you know, whether it's paper route or whether it's cmg, I don't like how the antagonism was Going on, on either side of stuff. It didn't really produce much or get as far as a culture. Then let's go down to the South. Texas. Listen, that J. Prince stuff kind of shadows over Texas and nothing again. I don't know, Houston's the new spot, the new hot spot or whatever like that. But it's nothing productive that's come out of Texas as far as the. If it has been, it's been offset by the violence and the nonsense. So you got the Dallas. The violence in Dallas or whatnot. That comedian Roy. I forget his last name, but him passing the Yellow beezy stuff and mo3 and all of that type of stuff going on in Dallas. A lot of talent that was in Dallas that we've lost or whatnot, and that has been wasted. So you have that. See here, then Charleston White, he represents Dallas. So you got that stuff going on. So, yeah, Texas as a whole. I got to give me more Atlanta, Pause upon the left, champ. Atlanta, Atlanta. You got, of course, the Rico's Galore. So Young Thug. All right, Dirk, by way of Chicago, being out there in Atlanta, you had the King Von situation that happened out in Atlanta. Again in Chicago. Kids coming out there to Atlanta or Chicago, man, out there in Atlanta causing havoc. But you had all of that stuff. You got like, kind of loving hip hop and stuff like that down there. I don't think none of that stuff has been productive. Like, got to be sober about this Florida Julio Fulio situation. All of that type of gang stuff that we've highlighted and everything like that. Then in Miami, Kodak Black, you know, 10 years ago, I. I wouldn't have wanted to see Kodak the way that he is nowadays, of course. But, hey, it is what it is, right? So. And I'm sorry, y'. All, y' all bear with me, but I'm. I'm kind of working this out out loud. Chicago, in the Midwest area, so Chicago, Detroit, Michigan, and then Wisconsin, I have listed as well. So dejelo, your man that was doing that shoulder dance out of Milwaukee the other year, I forgot his name. JB or jp, the dude that said that he was doing some freaky, right? You some freaky ass. Hey, he goes on the left, champ. But I forgot his song. I forgot his song. But you got him. We had Dej Loaf about a little bit over 10 years ago. It's been 10 years since Dej Loaf, y' all, shout out to Try Me. And then with Chicago again, like I mentioned, you had Dirk Vaughn, Chief Keef, a host of artists that We've lost to gun violence from Chicago. But then there's like incubated, curated a. Like a little farming system of creatives out of Chicago that always kind of stuck together. Now it's kind of the. The genesis of me thinking about this episode was the. The kids out of Chicago, like Chance the rapper, Vic Mensa, bj, the Chicago kid, you've got what's his name, Donnie Trumpets. And you know, all of the collective that Chance works with out there, and they do their thing individually as well. But he's always talked about how they were creative and went through creative exercises, writing exercises, writing camps, and different things like that. And I could kind of see the fruits of that 10 years later. And then also their understanding of independence and how the business works as well, and how to monetize their gifts and then also create their communities and move in a direct to consumer way. So Chicago, I give a little edge, but it just. It gives. The edge kind of gets erased because of all of the nonsense, you know? You know what I'm saying? All of the that goes on, it cancels out a lot of that progress that y' all made out there in Chicago. Let's go to la. You had the Nipsey stuff, of course, and everything that he was doing positive with Marathon and the brand itself. Let me see here. And outside of that, man, it's been a lot of gang stuff going on with them. So you had a lot of Rico stuff, the big U thing going on, you know, Brick Baby and all that out there. I mean, I. I love the kind of this space that, like, Issa Rae had kind of curated and. And gave us and platformed for, like la to show us a different side of la and the kind of that. The move around side and shout out to the Shy as well. The Shy, it started off dark and gloomy, but throughout the seasons of the TV show the Shy, it showed us a different side of Chicago as well. But Issa Rae, I think, definitely exposed us to just the kind of, you know, the regular everyday vibe of LA and stuff without having to be affiliated or down with any kind of politics and stuff like that out there. So they've got a pretty artistic community out there as well, a lot of artists and independent artists that can thrive, survive off of fan bases that are strictly west coast and keep their traveling and the touring on the west coast and be able to do that and make a living. So salute to LA right now. To me, I mean, that Nipsey thing, man, taking Nipsey out and then also The Quandarondo shooting happened out there. It's a lot of things that happen out in LA to Rico, so that balances or kind of offsets stuff. But sue to Issa, and in the Bay Area. The Bay Area. All right, so we got Kehlani, Keisha, Cole got what Tyler and I guess our future. And all of them, I would kind of consider more Southern Cal, right? Like just outside of. Just outside of la, more or less. So I consider him that. I mean, you got Mozzie and stuff up there in the Bay Area. I'm just again, trying to think of what. What kind of fruit have we produced from each of these regions as far as leaders go, as far as creatives and. And talent. So that was the Bay. We went through Florida. So those are my different regions. I got written down, y'. All. Texas, right now, who I got in the lead is la in the. In the kind of in the greater LA area, because to me, that would include odd future. All of their success. Tde, all of their success. Issa Rae, you got that. And, yeah, I think they've. They're a little bit ahead of. Of Chicago and what Chicago has produced. But Chicago, we still see y', all, it's still a lot. A lot of soul out there in Chicago. Memphis, y' all got all the soul in the world and the history, the energy and stuff like that of the history that's going down in the city. So I think a lot of that comes through the music and comes through the events that happen in Memphis nowadays. So right now, LA is in the lead. Then I got Chicago. If y' all have anything to say about the list or my group that I have, just feel free to email the show. Mandatory ot704gmail.com Mandatory ot704gmail.com this week, I did want us to play some High Star bars from Corey Guns, and then also we were gonna do some classical high Star bars as well. So look, the High Star bars from Corey Guns. I first heard it. I'll be honest, I heard it first on Joe Budden's podcast, but I went back and listened to the freestyle, and it's just too fire. So we're gonna go ahead and go through this real quick and. And then, yeah, we'll. We'll go through this and then move forward here and give me one second. All right, [00:42:35] Speaker B: Stop it with the shot to which you shot, the pun, your block and wash it with you. Got it with me. In case you thought I come for romping with you Hot to silly Snippy dumping, sluggish stomping on your fire lava my revolver sayonara by tomorrow I'll put you in the lineup who got the ring? They say I'm the shabbat. Straight of your brain is the only way for a shot at mine Crashing the Maddox to make them lay if I'm not inclined and you bait me then they'll be fishing you out Bottom line, chemical balance is not aligned Whatever design of the boxer I got the proper pine it's all in the sport you hit the floor, soccer time from where they popping on and your block is a cop of my eyes blocking eyes when they compromise soon as they caught him with a couple nickels he dropped and got a flat before he wrote his way and somehow I found it ironic they said it was not a sound if not a rom. You was told all you got is crime it ain't no easy walk we crawl and learn how to climb. Greasy talk demeanor just gotta shine Proceed to dealing with death, you leaving without a sign. [00:43:49] Speaker A: Okay, all of my shooters. [00:43:52] Speaker B: Only way they be pointing fingers is if they train to put the work out personal. They was heavy movers. First time I ate, I was telling [00:43:58] Speaker A: my let me do it. [00:44:00] Speaker B: I was a kid. [00:44:01] Speaker A: I don't know what led me to this. [00:44:04] Speaker B: Wish I finished school could have been a student to fix computer switches Mr. And rulers that tuned. Wasn't music the shot is the producer but thinking was a movie. Watch what you say to Lita. I give you metal where you stand like I'm paying the meter I put cabbage right in your patch Obey the procedure they would have thought the bullet [00:44:27] Speaker A: was bred how they lay the. Salute. Salute to the brother Corey Guns. That was tough. I did want to go a little bit into what that was. The beat itself was the why I feel like rhythm scene. So W y F l the redeem. So in Jamaica or in dancehall culture, you have what's called a redeem, which simply means like the dub or the. The rhythm or the. The beat that everybody is rapping to or rapping over. So salute to the rhythm wifl and salute to Corey Guns. Also, of course. Right. I did want to do a little bit deeper dive on that. So some show some love to all of my Jamaica Brad Dragon and sisters out there. But salute again to Corey Guns. We're going to go ahead and get into some classical high star bars here in just a moment. Yeah, I'll just. Give me one second while I pull this up. All right. One sec.
