It may arguably be one of the biggest stories of the week in sports, but let's see here. We gonna go to ESPN for the report. All right. So the NBA announces their punishment for the Clippers after the Kawhi Inquiry. NBA on Wednesday announced severe punishments for the LA Clippers including the loss of five future first round draft picks, a fine of $30 million and a year long suspension of owner Steve Ballmer for violating the salary cap circumvention rules in the case of involving star Kawhi Leonard. In a statement, the NBA said a near year long investigation found a pattern of misconduct and multiple significant rules violations by the Clippers organization, a prior offender of the salary cap circumvention rules so they their past offenders or repeat offenders. As a result, the clippers must forfeit first round draft picks in 2029. Hold on. In 2029-2030-2031-2032 and 2033. In addition to the 30. Excuse me. In addition to the 30 million dollar fine, Ballmer is suspended from all league and team activities for one year for knowingly seeking to help Mr. Leonard obtain off court income opportunities. Among other issues. President of business operations Gillian Zuckerberg is suspended without pay for one year and president of basketball operations Lawrence Frank is suspended without pay for six months. Leonard, a two time NBA Finals MVP wasn't suspended but must pay the league $700,000. All penalties are binding in the league and players union. Excuse me. All penalties are binding. The league and players union said the NBA collectively bargain system for determining the player's compensation is a fund. Okay, that's a bunch of right. Essentially Kawhi got fine 700k. I think Ballmer has to pay in in somewhere in the field of a couple M's, but. Oh, 30 M. 30 MJ. Yeah, yeah, I said that already. My fault. So, yeah, the 30 M's, 30 mil fine for Steve Ballmer, billionaire, multi billionaire, super billionaire. But. And then kawhi gets that 700k fine and then the draft picks and all of that stuff. I guess we'll talk about Kiwi D first. He's found guilty and in involvement with the Tupac murder. I don't have, you know, much to volunteer on that. I hate to see it for, you know, an older black man going to jail, but listen, yeah, he was, he was, he was definitely monetizing the, the tragedy that is, you know, the murder of Tupac. So I, you know, I have few words for that. I just wanted to bring it to y' all attention. I don't know. This ain't, you know, dude. Yeah, it's not that type of podcast, I guess just because it was in the news type deal and it's not any kind of like, I don't know, like arguments around that. I just, if any, I've seen the one argument from Glasses Malone that, you know, due process kind of was not followed in a sense. And we leaned too heavy on social media with this and it's a slippery slope. But that kind of brings us to the next one where Lil Durk with Lil Durk. Lil Durk's on child right now for his life and he's fighting a case for a murder for hire conspiracy charge. He's got top notch lawyers and yeah, that, that case as well. I, I don't see myself. So we're not screaming Free Dirk or anything, but as a man, when do you. When does accountability come in? As far as this was, you know, I'm accountable for these things and, and stuff. So I, again, I hate the fact that people are telling on Dirk. However, I don't know what Dirk. The role that Dirk played in all of this stuff as well. And then also it brings me to my next point. And it may be a deeper point there, but with, with personalities that are out there in content creation or in the media space, like a DJ Vlad, if you will, or academics or anyone. This Trap Lord Ross character that's been out at the, at the trial and then also this Swamp Stories guy has been at the trial, mind you, Swamp Stories and Trap Little Ross. I can admit all four of these guys that I just mentioned, I admit that I've consumed their content that they put out in, you know, and, and have just binge watched their stuff, in other words. Or, or yeah, just been. Been a. I wouldn't say a supporter, but I've consumed the content that they put out and doing that stuff without any regard to who it was that was putting out the content. But now we're starting to see, [00:33:43] Speaker C: for [00:33:43] Speaker B: lack of better terms, it. It's an insult to the people out there that consider themselves nerds to call these people nerves. Nerds. But these weirdos, we're seeing the manifestation of them where they feel bulletproof or untouchable, they're going to the trial, outside of the trial, antagonizing and being antagonistic about things. So the Swamp Stories got. He wears a. This is a white guy, Probably, I don't know, 66364 look like a regular white guy, though. He's wearing a white tee that has neon green airbrush 4kt on it. And then he's wearing a neon green bandana which is known to be NBA Young Boys Camps colors or whatnot. And 4kt, 4k tray is what they rep, I guess. So he's doing that NBA young boy who's a known adversary of Dirk, and he's doing this, wearing this outside of the courtroom. Another example again. And it's just an example of us being antagonized and being bothered right when we're minding our business. I mean. Yeah. But nevertheless, the Trap Lord Ross character, he shows up to the trial and he's antagonizing or whatnot. But the, the weird thing about this weirdo, Trap Lord Ross, he has a tattoo of King Von on him. Like, like he has a tattoo of the guy of like. Is that not weird? It's weirdo behavior. But nevertheless, your obsession or fetish with black men. And also like black men destroying each other. Now again, academics, he's. I'll give this to academics. I will say that he Has a fetish or an infatuation with money. And ever since the point where he's seen that money. He can get money from a certain viewpoint, certain opinion that he has and stuff, he's all in. He doesn't care. He's. He sold his. He sold his morals and his scruples a long time ago. But these other, specifically white men, this white guy Trap Lord Ross is from the uk. They use black tragedy as their canvas or as a commodity of theirs. Like, anytime black tragedy is going on, they see dollar signs, and that is the issue. It's not that, oh, they have somebody to bring on to their show or their platform and they want to interview them or we want to see. And then the person that they interview gave too much information on there. It's not that. It's not that at all. It's the fact that these guys fetishize and have an infatuation with black tragedy. And they, you know, again, an infatuation with loving to see black men or. Or black women tear each other down or in the lowest frequency of ourselves, the lowest versions of ourselves, so that they can make that their monolith of who we are and their stereotype, overall stereotype of who we are, to ultimately weaponize that against us when we show them the supreme. Follow me. Just the supreme level of who we are. So when somebody is super intelligent and speaking to travel Ross with resolve and calm, as one of Dirk's elders in that. In the Muslim community did outside of the courthouse, he was running from them. He ran from that conversation, a regular civil conversation, but came back in the following days of this trial, antagonizing the people that could not elocute themselves, the people that couldn't, you know what I'm saying, defend themselves verbally, if you will. Susan Wright remembered him as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend and an extraordinary artist whose work touched generations. I've heard that the owner was just paying up on a fantasy football bet. Now, I don't know, mind y', all, the owner was found in a trailer park in Ohio about to pay for punana for a hundred and forty dollars. And he got busted in the prostitution ring, got arrested. So the word is that all this stuff was all supposed to be him paying back a debt or a bet for. For losing a fantasy football league or something like that. All I can say about that, white people play different. You heard that? Rich white people, I should say, play different. That's crazy. That's a crazy debt to have to pay, if you will. But nevertheless, we Want to go ahead. I want to bring up Stephen A. Before we wrap up, because this was another part that was kind of serendipity. Like I mentioned earlier, he sat down with Jamel Hill and Carrie Champion, two of his colleagues or. Or peers, the former peers, if you will, and they hashed out certain differences, but also talked about the recent thumbs down award that Stephen A. Received from the nabj, why he may have received that, and, you know, again, his perspective on the community at large and then the community's perspective on him at large. So they had a spirited convo. It was. It's two parts and the first part dropped already. I actually, before I recorded today, I had to listen to it. I picked out a couple of jewels from there to play for y'. All. But the first one, it is an example of us being able to disagree and still have discourse and conversations. And I always saw Stephen A. As being intelligent enough to be able to speak and receive communication from people without resulting to things like money or things like transactional things that you've done for people in the past, like favors, but just attacking a point and staying on point. But yeah, it was a very emotional, emotional conversation between the three of them. As y' all could understand, Carrie Champion was let go from ESPN in 2020. I want to say Jamel Hill prior to maybe in 2019. I'm not sure. Like, however, both of them were let go from espn and Stephen A. Is still the person there. So it just, you know, it looks kind of way. But nevertheless, let me play this part of the interview where Stephen A. Is kind of explaining just his disposition a little bit, y'. All. Y' all get the clip whenever I play it. We have political disagreements, Stephen A. I don't take those personally because we're supposed to politically disagree. I think it makes for a healthier environment. What I do take issue with sometimes is honestly, and this gets back to that whole community trust thing, is it is sometimes about the company that you keep. And I know that you try to have a platform where you're considering equal perspectives, but I ain't gonna lie. It's just some people that when I see them on your platform, on Straight Shooter, or in conversation with. And I'm like, I don't get it. So when you. After NABJ gives you this thumbs down award and I realize you and Sean Hannity have been friends for many years. Fox 25. Yes, 25. Fox News is the most anti black news station I think I've ever seen in my life. You know what they Constantly do all the time, fear mongering. They make us. We. They target practice all day. And I'm like, why? Why is that the choice and not just them? It's like, yo, man, I saw you do. I watched your conversation with Ben Shapiro, man. And I'm gonna just say, fuck Ben Shapiro. And the reason I say that, because when he said that about Trayvon Martin and his consistent comments about him, dead to me. And so maybe that's where we're just different. Megan Kelly. Again, this is awesome to just see people in our community really hash out their differences this way. It's another part that I wanted to play. Did a lot of word salads in this, of course, to justify. Kind of a lot of his points are still bring it back to where, you know, he can stand on his. His Dean or whatever. But they. The women communicated beautifully with him. Who the hell I. All right. Just to appear so he's getting defeats defensive right now. [00:52:06] Speaker F: I can't do that. And there's certain things that, like, that shit ain't gonna ride with me. Like, I just can't do it. I commend you because you're able to do it. I will say this just so you understand that, like, the one word I never use with you and even though people tried to get into it, was calling you a sellout. And I would never do that, you know? And I thought this column was so brilliant and so brave to do that column because you critiqued our community in a way that, frankly, we weren't ready to face. You basically were like, y' all will be in line for these white coaches, but when these black coaches step in y' all around and get them fired, because then you start doing things out of character, then you start testing the limits and all that. And I was like, damn, I know where you going. This is a real column to write. So if you're thinking from this conversation that we're telling you, don't critique black people or whatever, but I think.
